Big G, Blueprint Ent., & Flayre Ent. were having their Annual Graduation
& Mother's Day Celebration at Zanzibar on the Waterfront.... and you know
we had to be up in dat. I even heard Stone Love from Jamaica would be in the building.
So when you think of it... Georgetown University, American University, University
of Maryland, oh lord Howard University, just to name a few colleges in the area.
Plus the local DJ's mixed with the Jamaican sound would make for a well diverse
and good night... and people graduating, so you know they wanna party! Yea, I
DEFINITELY have to be in this fete!! So
that day, I rehl making sure I look proper... you know a man have to look good
(plus d last time I went Zanzibar, they wanna cut style on me and my sense of
fashion, but that was small thing ... it's a new year). Lol. Well everyone already
know how parking is down on the Waterfront, so I plan on getting there early so
I wouldn't have to pay that $20 for secure parking, and seeing I got there around
11pm, I was safe with parking. Side note, that would be a good time to reach if
you don't want a hassle or pay for parking. So then it was time to tackle the
line... and any bouncer wanting to cut style on my sense of fashion again.
But surprisingly, both went seamlessly, and I was on the inside with ease and
looking for the bar.

| The
place was lightly populated at the time I arrived but that's the West Indian scene
in D.C. (fashionably late is the thing nowadays), and I knew the partygoers would
slowly flood in. I decided to hang out at the bar drinking and flirting with the
bartenders. I figured one might hook me up with some drinks, but boy was I wrong
when I saw my bill. But that's another story! So
the early warm music was on point from the time I reach in the building thanks
to the local DJ's Sprang International, Jason Steele & "Darknessss"
Black Spider who were holding down the music in the early go'ings. Guest DJ,
Geefuss from Stone Love hadn't arrived yet, but I knew once he did
it would be well worth the wait. Around 12:30am, the people started flowing in
steadily and the vibes was really building. This is when getting to the main bar
started becoming a little difficult BUT luckily Zanzibar had that second bar off
to the back that most people don't know about. That made it easier if you didn't
want to fight the crowd. Around
1:30am, the majority of the people had arrive and the party vibes was in full
effect. Jason Steele was on at this time and had the dancehall music flowing.
The dancers came out and were in one section showing off the latest moves, and
the go hard dancehall lovers were in the center of the dance floor holding it
down while the social people were displaced throughout, enjoying the vibes. Stone
Love came on close to 2am and really changed the vibes of the dance once they
started playing that prime time, fast pace Dancehall/Hip Hop which got everyone
up and dancing. Even
though the fete wasn't ram jammed with people as one may expect, the music, fun
atmosphere and beautiful people really made this party what it was. It was Bob
himself that said, "Once the music hits you, you feel no pain" and this
was apparent that night thanks to all the great DJ's. Can't wait for next year. Reppin'
