Send dem out like scuds! Well yes, Mr. Benz here again, this time coming to you live and alive from DC Carnival in the nation’s capital! I wonder if I will see Mr. Obama in any fetes this weekend boy? LOL. Imagine that out of all the Carnivals in the US, something about DC is just magical. This Carnival make certain people leave wuk, take time off, even leave their vacation early to come back to fete yes! Well, needless to say after a hectic Thursday and Friday night, fete after fete after fete, and not to mention a best parade down Georgia Avenue earlier today (view coverage), mih body was hurting, mih foot was hurting, mih skin was burning, but we still going! TJJ don’t stop till the sun come up!!

So it’s DC Carnival Saturday night and we are off the cover the one and only Machel Montano HD at his only DC appearance this weekend. Tonight and tonight only, the King of Soca is performing at Zanzibar on the Waterfront 'One More Time'. So with cameras in hand, me and JoyJuice were off to jump on the Big Truck! As we walked up to Zanzibar, I tell myself that I find it didn’t have many people on the outside. Doh tell me that a Machel fete buss? Is that possible? No sooner did we walk inside that I had to figure out ... Wrong! Machel can't buss!! Inside the club already full and it still early. Lawd! This going to be a good night. Party ram out at 12 o’clock already and Machel not supposed to come on until 2am! Pressure.

Nuff big ups to the Zanzibar crew for giving the TJJ family some love and taking care of us right up! No problems at all. All promoters take note … that is what we like! Klimaxx Entertainment, Blessed Productions and Good Times Promotions did a good job in getting everything right tonight. All that’s left was to see how this party was grooving. And once again, no sooner than I tell myself let me see if these people ready to party, I had to find out ... Wrong! These people ready to get on bad!!

First up on the 1’s and 2’s was DJ Hazzard accompanied by DJ Spyda. Now, everybody know that TJJ does be in all the fetes, but you see these two DJ’s … wherever them playing, I want to cover THAT party! Hit after hit after hit, styles after styles after styles. Dem boys was flinging world record tunes. I think for a while, people even forget that Machel was supposed to be performing yes! Even our host for the night, Giselle d’ Wassi One was flexing on stage. I even see DJ Hazzard tief a lil' wine while he was lining up the next tune! After his set, NY's Natural Freaks was up to bat ... and with the way they come in the crease swinging and flinging tunes, like they were out to make a century yes! Dese Freaks know how to do it right man! Trust me... they were born to pelt tunes! Big ups to dem for getting the crowd ready to go. I never see 2am reach so fast .... I guess time really does fly when yuh having fun. And so, with a well deserved introduction from d’ Wassi One, Mr. HD himself was up on stage!

Dressed up in a military style jacket and red band around his arm, Mr. Won’t Stop wasted no time in stopping the music to pay homage to the King of Pop. Before his performance, Machel respectfully dedicated the night to Michael Jackson, saying that without him, there would be no Machel! And with that, and something that resembled a moonwalk, the party started. Needless to say, that Machel does not have to struggle to find tunes to sing and so, going all the way back to "Too Young to Soca", throwing in an acapella here and there, and even a remix or two, Mr. HD kept the crowd jamming and waving for over a solid hour. I don’t know where this man gets all his energy from nah. Even without his band, it was no problem to belt out hits. I think we take for granted sometimes, what a great entertainer this man is. For me, and for many others, the performance was an exceptional one. What made it even more memorable, was that Machel ended his performance by bringing up the only white guy in the audience and had him buss a wine on stage! LOL.

Yes friends, so another one down and 3 more fetes (yes 3) to go tomorrow! But as for tonight, good vibes in Zanzibar, good drinks, best music and best DJ’s, and a stellar performance by the man himself, Mr. HD! No complaints here from the TJJ crew and of course, we looking forward to DC Carnival 2010 ... to do it "One More Time" ... one more wine!
