Port-of-Spain, Trinidad Promotions: Zen Click on thumbnails to see the big picture/entire gallery Restless In Zen Well, what can we say about Zen's After Party on Ash Wednesday? You could tell that the sold out Zen crowd was exhausted after the Carnival season and was just pushing themselves to go one more day ... fuss people just didn't want to admit that Carnival done and jus stay home! Machel Montano and the HD band did their best to hype the crowd. Montano really personalized the performance and sang his heart out directly to the audience. It was a nice send-off, but for all his energy and efforts, the crowd was more swaying to the music instead of jumping and waving. Folks were tired, tired, tired. All you could see in VIP was people standing up and watching like it was a performance concert instead of a fete. And even the general admission was only half-heartily jumpin' up.
But hey, it's Mr. HD, so it's still a good time. Not to mention those two Apple Martini's I had while waiting for the performance to start... definitely enhanced my good time!! My favourite part of the night was when Zan came on - something about his voice just does something to me. And when he started to sing "Slip Away", I closed my eyes and got lost in the music. Ahhh yes, it's a female writing this review btw. Stabby De Guard graced the stage following HD, to thank everyone for an enjoyable TnT Carnival season. He gave the crowd a few stabs and a couple juks to his hit song "Stabby" before falling out. Overall it was a nice, mellow evening and a good opportunity to say good-bye to all the folks we limed with throughout the Carnival before I flew back to reality the next day. And did I mention we almost missed our flight? Yes, we're well enjoying some bugers outside Zen thinking our flight was leaving at 10am, when in fact it was jetting at 8am. So you can only imagine how we were sweating bullets speeding down the Beetham Highway!! Boarding my flight, ==================================== |
