Island Passion After Party Date: Saturday 6th June 2009 Location: Dwight Yorke Stadium/The Shade. Tobago W.I. Promotions: Sunset Entertainment Click on thumbnails to see the big picture/entire gallery Goal... say Goal, and they still partying as Tobago full of Trinis! It's the long anticipated match everyone was gearing up for, and we knew that this weekend was going to be different. From Piarco International Airport, all flight were full and the standby lines were long. Tobago was packed with visitors for this big weekend as our Soca Warriors battle Costa Rica in the 2010 South Africa World Cup Qualifiers. It's Friday night and we're at the hotel relaxing, and we know we can always count on The Shade to have something jumping off. So said, so done. Who say pre-football party? Midnight and the dance ram, cars lined up & down the streets, music pumping and everybody gearing up. Folks were enjoying themselves, especially the ladies, and everybody had the same thing their mind .. "Football later ... we mashing up Costa Rica!!" It was an early night for TJJ as we have an early start tomorrow.
Fast forward ... It's Saturday evening and things about to kick off. From Scarborough traffic lights straight to Dwight Yorke Stadium, is cars for so, ... you would never believe Tobago have that much people. So crawling through the traffic is René (Sunset Entertainment), Alexx (Waterholics) and me (D' Young Juice) ... ready for some action. It was a sea of red through out the stadium, and we even spotted some Costa Rican supporters in red & white mingling in the T&T crowd. The game kicked off at 6pm with Soca Warriors on the South goal and Costa Rico on the North. Intense football ... the ball on this side ... then on that side ... offside ... and finally in the goal ... Costa Rico leading 0-1, but that ent stopping we. Soca Warriors must step up the game. Goal ... say goal as Carlos Edwards hit one from the corner side straight pass the goal keeper into the net. Crowd gone WILD!! Then Costa Rica scored again, the Soca Warriors equalized, and unfortunately in the last 10 minutes the visiting team struck the back of the goal making the final score 2-3. Now the football lime for us ent done yet as we Trini's know how to make the best of every situation. The Carib truck (with a new Carib girl recruit drawing a crowd) was on the outside pumping music, with JW on the mic and Studio Guys on the one's and two's. A lil' vibes outside the stadium as the Carib truck made a move, and it's straight to The Shade for "Island Passion", the official after party of the game. With zero time to go home and change, it's straight from the game to the "Go Go club" according to some. As expected, the DJ was pumping "Fighter (Soca Warrior)" by Maximus Dan as the crowd sang "I am a Soca Warrior ... Win or lose I am a fighter!!" (with more emphasis on the last words ... lol) For TJJ, everything just began ... the colours of red filled The Shade all united ... and the last thing on everyone's mind was the defeat. It was just another time to fete!! A lineup of DJ's from Red, Players, Trevlyn and Die Hard all gave their share of juggling keeping the vibes fresh. As we say, "Once something happening, Trini Jungle Juice there from start to finish!" Until
