Date: Saturday 13th June 2009 Location: Le Poisson Rogue. Manhattan, NY Promotions: ShorBlu Events & OHpslams Click on thumbnails to see the big picture/entire gallery Team TJJ NY just finished helping HD mash up Radio City Music Hall (view coverage). Phew! We hit the road again and headed downtown Manhattan for Encore, an event presented by ShorBlu. If you're in NYC on business or vacation and you are looking for a wicked night out filled with the sweet sounds of soca then you should definitely check out the fellas of ShorBlu. Did we mention that we've been living with constant rain these days? In fact, just when we thought it was going to be a dry night, the bleeping rain caught us just as we left the parking lot. Steups. Hey, but have you seen what some women will do to protect their hairstyle? Lol! Never mind scarves and umbrellas, I saw plastic bags and even a shower cap on the line outside of the venue! Well before I continue with how the fete went, I have to mention Tony of Natural Freaks. Boy, you mad yes! Why did he run up in the Hot dog vendor's cart and started selling hot dogs!? (photo) LMAO!! Ok, ok so we had a good laugh and soon we were on the inside. Oh gosh but we were soooo early it was weird. I think we got there around 11:45pm-ish. I haven't been to a fete that early in a minute. We were so early that the AC was biting. The music was awesome though, so who could complain about being cold when the music got your head right and drinks at the bar were righteous??!! Well you know before we knew it, the fete was ram cram. I think everyone arrived at the same time.
Oh and everyone looked so fabulous. Love it! The ladies were especially sexy ... and girls, I don't think I have ever mentioned this but, the fellas looked hot too but the thing is, they smelled great too! Yum! This fete was truly a good swinging time. The soca, reggae and hip hop all blended magically. At one point there was a guest appearance by a female violinist. Yes that is what I said. It wouldn't be a ShorBlu event without something unique. This talented young lady accompanied some heavy hitting hip hop tracks. While I get the idea, unfortunately her audio was not the greatest and I had to move closer to try to pick up her rhythm. Quite a few folks complained of not being able to hear or keep up also and wished they could. Hey, kudos to her anyway because I don't know a soul yet who can play a violin. After that was done, the bacchanal ensued. Got to love my West Indians! Not even the rain nor the biting AC stopped this fete from turning into level winery! Big up to my crew who barely come out to fetes. They had a time and the bar was less about 5 bottles of Johnnie due to their revelry! Lol! Encore was the perfect ending to a great evening. Big up the LA crew! Thanks to DreDogg, Curtis, and Shorne. As usual you guys turned it out! p.s. Ladies please don't leave home without your undies.... Peace, |
