Feeling the Reggae Vibes at the Oval

April is always known as Reggae month in Bim, and 2009 welcomed a new addition to the reggae flavoured events. Big Links Promotions, Clint Gregory Productions and Mix 96.9FM put together "Easter Reggae Explosion", an event filled with major reggae greats. Setting the stage at Kensington Oval was Kymani Marley, Third World, Anthony B., Luciano, Cocoa Tea, Half Pint, Etana and Frankie Paul.

I made sure to get to the Oval early o'clock in order to get a good spot right in front of the stage ... VIP what?! We set up right in front of the stage, and although the VIP offered some perks such as free drinks, we set up our coolers in the grounds section and started the lime! Before the headliners performed, many fantastic local acts such as Ayana John and Biggie Irie, had their stage time. These Bajans definitely have talent boy!

As the day progressed (mind you we were there from around 12:00 pm) the crowd started rolling in. As you all should know by now, Bajans hate rain and April is known for having turbulent weather. And the morning of the 12th April had some disgusting weather!!

But... by enforcing some serious positive thinking, the skies brightened up and allowed us gals to show off our pedicured toes in our swanky sandals. Although there was some rain drops to follow later on in the night and umbrellas up and shower caps even on (see photo), our sweet reggae vibes were still high in the air! The little drizzles of water didn't last too long thankfully and the toes and hot outfits were still in high gear! smile Drinks in hand and hands around waists.... everyone was dancing and vibsing to our sweet Caribbean music.

We were all limin' and jammin' for all 10 hours! It was definitely a good lime and the performances fantastic! Look out for more events produced by some of these promoters folks.
