Date: Monday 16th February 2009 Location: Coco Lounge. Woodbrook, Trinidad Promotions: Xceptional Events Limited Click on thumbnails to see the big picture/entire gallery Call her Bacchanal! Exactly one week before Carnival Monday, an exclusive CD Launch Party was held for our very own "Soca Queen of Hearts" Destra Garcia (DG) at the trendy, yet intimate Coco Lounge Bar & Lounge on the exciting Ariapita Avenue strip. Greeted by the lovely smiles of the sexy Digicel girls (both at the entrance and up stairs), Dr. Ram Dass and myself were on hand to enjoy this most intimate celebration for the artist's sixth album titled "Hott". In the restricted upstairs VIP area, the open bar added a very elegant touch for the special invited guests, members of the media and some of Digicel 'big wigs' who were all mingling as they awaited the Soca diva's arrival. We caught up with Digicel Sponsorship and Public Relations Manager, Maurita Laurent, who explained to us that this was actually Destra's 1st album launch, and that the artist was really happy to not only have the launch, but have her fans present to celebrate the special occasion with her. We spotted Toronto's #1 Soca DJ Dr. Jay, fashion designer Peter Elias and "Bacchanal" music video director's Sheldon Felix and Lisa Wickham in attendance. Arriving fashionably late, Destra looked quite stunning in a fitted purple dress with gold shoes and accessories as she hugged fans and posed for photos. She told TJJ TV that is was also the world premier of her new music video "Hott", directed and produced by Eldon Pernel. Garcia went on to say that although she loves all of her videos with a passion, there's something a little extra about the "Hott" video that we need to see. Although Garcia didn't perform on the night, she did grace the stage to thank her management and production team, band members, Digicel family and fans for their continuous support before introducing the "Hott" music video. She recapped the songs featured on the two-disc album, telling her fans that, "Everything begins and ends with God." Which explains why the Gospel song, "Jesus loves me" is on the album. With Destra signing autographs on posters, T-shirts and CDs for her devoted fans, our night came to a close with our very own TJJ TV crew getting one piece of ah "bacchanal wine" from one of Garcia's biggest fans.
