Date: Sunday 7th June 2009 Location: Circle Line Cruises, Pier 83. Manhattan, NY Promotions: Crix & Friends Click on thumbnails to see the big picture/entire gallery Hey Honey Bunches of Oat's! We were so early for this boat ride that the music was not set up yet! There must be some partygoers who don't own a watch and reach late for everything!!! *lol* After the sound system finished with the setting up, people started boarding. It was not a huge turnout, and what a surprise for a boatride of this caliber. Despite of that, the people that were present displayed a spirit and vibe that was like no other. "Fulljoy Yuhself!" was the motto for the night and everyone onboard seem to be doing just that. The crowd was a very decent one, with a few questionable characters present, and women outnumbering the men like 4 to 1. Big Flex got the ball rolling with some soca vibes that set the pace for the rest of the night. The deejay cast that the boat had you know that the people were in for a treat. Up next was Natural Freaks that picked up right where Flex left off, with their own special way of presenting the music to the people. They heightened the vibes a notch.
Platinum Sounds were up after, and all we could say is, "Wow!" He sent the crowd in a frenzy with some R&B and Hip Hop music. We didn't even think that the crowd would like it, but boy were we wrong! He continued to switch the flavor and everyone was swaying to the flow of the music. Don't talk bout when he buss the oldies. We never witnessed so many people participating in the "Dollar Wine" before. On our way back to the pier, Back to Basics created an atmosphere that you could only feel on J'Ouvert morning in Trinidad and Tobago. People were actually chipping all over the boat. By now, he knows how much I love "Meet Super Blue", so he muss buss that chune jus for me!! *lol* The boat docked at the pier in what would seem like a short time because of the late start. Did I mention that it was the first time that we saw a trash can cover being used as a cooler, thanks to some creative minds ... lmao! Trinidad and Tobago's national footballer Stern John was on board, and it is always a pleasure to have infamous people at your event. All in all, the turn out may have been somewhat disappointing compare to others, but took nothing away from the spirit and vibes of the people present. With the music and the crowd that was there, we would say that this was a positive end to a negative start. Big respect to Crix and Friends! Primo
