What’s a typical long weekend in Trinidad and Tobago? I’d like to say every other weekend or at least that’s what it feels like sometimes. This was no different. No work or school for whatever reason on Friday so that continuous cracking sound is the breaking of rum bottle seals. Friday’s Happy Hour has been moved forward, and no memos are required.

As I have engaged your imagination to believe, there are several events going on tonight. Not to get into trouble is going against the laws of Trini nature. As a church going yute, I opted to take John Legend's advice and let her know that I already have a friend. That included skipping his concert however and going straight to the after party. At least that was how some talk up Zen that night. As for me, I’m just a little maco. So I went down to see de Scorch scene. It’s a model search (slash) the re-launch of the magazine’s website thescorch.com. It’s all the cool kids, music nerds and sleek dressing individuals. I wanted to see if I would have been lucky enough to catch some editorial ole talk? Learn about the next bad car that out in Trini that I can’t afford, find out if pound cake is the new sponge cake or for the least answer a poll to determine if it’s ok for women to walk with rain coats on a date... yeah, that kind of rain coat! You know what, when the management and staff of The Corner Bar strolled in with plad canvas vans or vans look-a-like ... I think they sell them in Chagaunas ... I knew I might hear something of interest.

Now, by the time I got there, it was rock star-ville. Smallies dancing on the furniture in heels, expensive looking bottles of Vodka at several tables and a well lit main room for everyone to make out de models, potential models and everybody else. I immediately started looking for Vinny Chase and his entourage, cause I was getting the vibe that it was that kind of event.

Several Cuba Libres later (we’ve long since departed from rum and coke land), I start to take picture of de scene. All I have to say is, I love strippers and models ... whether they have anything in common or not!

So my shoulders are feeling a little blistered from rubbing shoulders against all those urban designer materials, by urban I may mean “cut cloth at home” so I had to break out and take my shabby sheek tail to the burger man for detox before I went to bed. Salivating on the olives in my burger in St. James, I kept going back to the martinis and long legs at Zen’s Rooftop bar, and I’m not talking about the legs of a fine wine. Scorch reputation lives strong. Local, fresh, original and hot. Where’s my next issue?
