U.W.I. Chutney Sting
2009 U.W.I. St. Augustine Campus has a mini Carnival season of their own two weeks before Carnival, with a Calypso show on the Wednesday, Chutney on Thursday and Campus Carnival/After Party on the Friday. Well allya done know we must show our U.W.I crew some love, so it's "Chutney Sting" and TJJ in da house. U.W.I fetes are usually heavily supported by the campus massive and this installment was no exception. We on the scene about 11PM and the campus was pumping with people. In true Trini style, almost everyone was liming' outside waiting for the performances to start. But TJJ love to snap and take ah wine, so we made our way straight on the inside. The thing done start with big Chutney band Karma on the stage with Nisha B bussing her big tune "Bison". Not to mention Ravi B and he "Dularie Nanny" ... I tell you, U.W.I Chutney was slamming. It wasn't long before the newest member to join the band, Andy Singh, hit the stage giving us a taste of "Jepp Sting Naina".
Okay, time for a quick stop at the bar. On route, we heading through the crowd looking for the sweet girls to snap.. and get a taste of that Chutney wine! The mission was successful with the help of selectors Madman Richard and Big Daddy, who buss the 2009 Soca Chutney Monarch anthem "Radica", which sent the ladies mad! Now it's a university fete, so it have no time for sticking since everything must lock off by 2am .... yes, real pace. Hitting the stage at this time was JMC 3veni featuring Ravi Babooram, one of the Synergy Chutney Star finalists. They gave us a nice taste of the Soca vibes for the season as well. Their performance lasted for about 45 minutes and when we looked twice, it was 15 minutes before lock off time. Cyberia on the one's and two's buss the last tune "Sorani Raj", and this was our signal to make our way out. Not looking forward
to class in the morning, ==================================== |
