Date: Saturday 4th April 2009 Location: Rhum Jungle. 70 Exmouth Market, London Promotions: Bachanal Promotions Click on thumbnails to see the big picture/entire gallery Seven Deadly Sins ... or ... Seven Heavenly Pleasures 'Lust,' 'Gluttony,' 'Greed' 'Sloth,' 'Wrath,' 'Envy,' and 'Vanity' ... we are off to experience the seven (7) deadly sins or as some people would call it the seven (7) heavenly virtues of the hottest up and coming London mas band, Bachanal Mas (www.bachanalmas.com) They launching early, they organised, and they selling out! Don't miss out!! Tonight's band launch is at Rhum Jungle, an intimate basement venue next door to the popular Caribbean restaurant Cottons in Exmouth market, London. We heard that tonight we can experience over 200 different rums from the Caribbean and South America in the dance. Oh goodness ... GREED! We arrived around 10:30pm. And for those last minute decision makers, there was no need to stress as you could pay at the door and join the jamming for a few extra £s. The '7 Deadly Sins' were already shaking up the dance, showing off the beautiful costumes ready for this band's 2nd Notting Hill Carnival appearance. The costumes looked hot, and so did the models ... LUST! Now we knew they were keeping the front line sections a secret for a lil' longer and we couldn't wait! And clearly we weren't the only ones eager to get a piece of the action.
By 12:30am, the venue packed out and all we hearing is 'sold out'! Well boy, this is a band with vibes ... real vibes. There was NO ONE at this launch who wasn't having a great time. And if the launch is anything to go by, we can't wait for the road!! So folks, my suggestion is to get in there quick. They even offering a discount if you introduce new people to the band too!! The music on the night was remarkable as we had DJs Remie D, De Hitman, Fingatipz and BK on the 1s and 2s. We got a real mixture of soca from all over the Caribbean. It was most refreshing to not just hear the same Trinidad Road Marches over and over. They said there would be no bashment, no RnB ... and they were right ... it was pure Soca! Allya damn right!! That's how it should be ... GIGGIDY!! The crowd was loving the tunes from all over ... glow sticks were in the air ... granny take a jam ... choreographed routines were in the house .... passa passa to Soca music ... we love it!! No one was sitting down ... no one was partaking in the SLOTH! Drinks were flowing freely, and the party was jamming nonstop. Gosh, we wish Notting Hill 2009 was right now!! Bachanal Mas, you certainly got us in the mood! If yuh looking for info for the road, they have packages this year for everyone - front line, men, women, children ... any and everyone ... come join d Bachanal Mas. Richard, Paul and the entire crew ... you guys look set for another great year, and are going from strength to strength. You should certainly be filled with PRIDE !!! And for the all the other bands out there, this is Bachanal Mas ... they organised, they fresh, they full of vibes ... one word ... ENVY! Beth
