3Some in Chicago?

Yes TJJ is now in Chicago, so you betta recognize.

The drive to the south side of Chicago was not bad, however that night it was raining cats and dogs. The place was easy to find and like everywhere else in the city, it was street parking, but being more in a neighbourhood setting, there were spots available.

I roll up into Woodlawn Gardens, which is an event hall, a lil' after 11 p.m. and saw all the Trini crew from the football team West Indies Jets aka Jets. After a lil' small talk, shake hand and bounce, I heard there was food in the dance. So my brethren, who made it into the city from way out in the burbs, and I went to go check the food out. A nice Trini lady organized the food – stew chicken, jerk chicken, rice and beans and coleslaw. I had a sample and it was real nice. My partner already asking if the woman does cater after he mash up the $8 box lunch. The food lady also told us that she has been in Chicago over 10 years now. I observed and also discovered from talking to people that many of the people in attendance have been in Chicago for many years, some even for umpteen years to boot!

So we make it back by the bar now and real people excited to see TriniJungleJuice in the place. People asking if I fly in all kinda ting. The bartender was generous with the rum - that might explain why some of the pictures come out blurry yes. The overall vibe was nice and friendly. One fella was coasting on me, like he know more about 20/20 cricket – I say boss man you probably do know more as that is not my game. It was a decent turn out, and the place didn’t start jumpin' until about midnight, which was expected.

DJ Boombostic who has been on the Chicago scene for a lil' while now, was handling the music supplying a steady mix of soca and reggae, hyping up the crowd as needed. The crowd was more on the mature side, but there were some smallies in attendance. I guess a dance hall ram with only smallies is only in an ideal world (or a fete in the Oval over Christmas holidays). Special big up to the Croisse People crew for organizing the event.

I'm looking forward to checking out more events here in Chicago. And since everybody I met told me about the next lime or party they having, I figure that coming up real soon!
