YES! YES! YES OBAMA!!!! With our first black President in the White House, all you were hearing from his proud supporters were chants filled with joy and happiness! You could feel the love being spread throughout the nation. Now with that in mind, this fete was called "Yes We Can," inspired by U.S. President-Elect Barack Obama's pore-raising speech. This wasn't just an ordinary fete though, it was time for us to give back to those in need and with the Christmas holidays right around the corner what better way to share and give than at a Fete/Food Drive"! Yes We Can make a difference, Yes We Can so so much more to help those in need! This remarkable event was held at Trilogy Entertainment Complex and brought to you by DR. JAY DE SOCA PRINCE. Where else could you fete and give back to your community in one shot?! You can wine, wine, wine and also feel good about providing for someone else ...doesnt that sound sweet??!! The TJJ crew had a few stops for the night, but yuh know we had to save de best for last. Trilogy was de last stop on our GPS, and as we headed west we were already amped from de vibes at Soca Summit. We arrived at about 1:15 am, perfect timin of course. We were right in time to watch de crowd climax. Tunes were dropping left and right and de speakers were booming sounds of excitement! Selecting all the right songs and riddims were MARXMAN - Always On Point, DJ CHIEF - You Have The Right To Remain Dancing, SOCA MONARCHS - It's All About The Music, FIRST CLASS - feat. 2 Touch, DJ REMEDY - Curing Your Musical Illness, DJ REVZ - Female DJ from KOS Radio and holdin down the mic for the night was DIRTY DEZ - Makin' Yuh Get On Dutty! This one-of-kind fete couldnt come at a better time ... fete-goers came out in crowds showing their support, each of them with a non-perishable which was delivered to the Daily Bread Food Bank. Theres no better feeling than giving back to the less fortunate, not true? Arite, after we thought the vibes couldnt get any better with de sweet music and de feeling of unity and amnesty, fete-goers still had a Christmas present to unwrap ... lol! YES! YES! YES BOSS! De chant changed as de Bajan sensation Stabby De Guard ran onto de stage. Dressed in a security guard get-up he slowly stripped off his shirt and sang out, "GO STABBY! GO STABBY!" What ah sight for de ladies ... you could see that yearn for him in each of their eyes. He provided a nice, lengthy performance to de crowd and danced around the stage wukkinup his body like a snake. When ah tell yuh, ah NEVER see moves like dat boi! Wooooooi!
Now although there was snow like no tomorrow outside, yuh coulda never tell by de vibes inside Trilogy. The place was heated with bodies that love soca and there no cares in the world other than vibin together as one. De music continued to blast until about 3:30am, and de crowd slowly winded down. There was no corn soup tonight, so we headed straight out the door with ah brush in hand to fight up with all de snow. Although our bellys were empty, our souls were filled with joy and contentment!
