Our long-awaited Soca summer is FINALLY here and what better way to kick it off with a bang than de 13th Annual Whiteout, brought to you by Dr. Jay and the K.O.S family at Palazzo nightclub. You could party on the inside with the artists or listen to some records on the patio, but either way, yuh guaranteed to have ah bess time!

Team TJJ Toronto had we attire ready months in advance because this was one fete that you had to wear ALL WHITE!! And there was no stickin’ with that! We pulled into the parking lot around 11pm and there was zero parking spots available ... when ah tell yuh, de parking lot was raaaaaam! The line to enter was around the corner, but moving smoothly. After circling the parking lot ah good few times, the we found a spot - FINALLY! We parked up, had a few drinks and entered the building. The hype was already on point because most car trunks were opened in the parking lot, complete with adult beverages. So with that in mind, yuh know everybody head nice ah’ready! *lol*

On the inside, fete-go’ers were jammin’ and having ah rel good time. All the hype chunes were brought to us by the man with the Soca Therapy, Dr. Jay and his partner on the mic, d man with the steel, E Man. On the patio, mashing up de place were marXman, Soca Sweetness and bess MC Dirty Dez. The TJJ crew was feeling nice with all the vibes - it’s like no matter where you were, inside or outside, you were definitely having ah time!!!

Around 12:30am Blaxx, Olatunji, Trini Jacobs and the Roy Cape All Stars band came on stage, enhancing the vibes to de max!!! Blaxx mashed up de stage with hits “Dutty” and “Breathless” while Olatunji had everyone doing the dance side to side to "Get Wild". Among other songs, they tore it up with “Gyal Farm” (Kerwin Du Bois & Shal Marshall), “Mo Wuk” (Patrice Roberts) and “Get On” (Faye-Ann Lyons). But we must large them up for the reggae set because they heated up the place with big chunes, one after de next. From head to toe, everybody was sweatin' ... ah mean, from all that wukkin’ up, yuh must expect “De heat awwwww!!!!”

Chunes were spinnin’ one after the next once the performances ended, from soca to oldies, reggae to ole school – the K.O.S family had your therapy! Now this party was not like any regular “white” concept party, it was WHITEOUT til its BRIGHTOUT!! You had to have the stamina to endure the hours and hours of winin’ and wukkin’ up .. but yuh know that for Caribbean people thas no scene though!! *lol* Once the bar closed, the hype level was increased because everybody’s head baaaad and you could just feel the vibes.

Around 4:30am, the crowd on the inside was still fetin’ strong .. the weak fete-go'ers had left by then, but the true Soca Warriors stayed for more!! At one point, a weakling had to have the MC announce that “she needs to leave but someone is blockin’ her car in!” *lol* Evidently she was NOT a WARRIOR but either way, a lot of people had what it took to go til it was brightout!! Dr. Jay changed up the vibes around that time, playing some swanky chunes as fete-go’ERs chipped out the door onto the patio. If they were goin’ til it brightout, yuh had to see it ent??!!

On the patio, the crews were goin’ crazy and the place was on fyaaaah! They were singing along, chune after chune, and it made de vibes more intense. Now unfortunately, it was raining cats and dogs outside, so at 6am it WAS NOT brightout ... HOWEVER all the Soca Warriors scored - they cud handle de fete! smile Some people refused to leave and jumped on stage begging for more chunes ... that is what we call stamina booooii!!!!

All in all, Whiteout was another fete that made history! And we're sure that anyone that attended will back what we saying!!

- Mizz Kayz for the TJJ fam
