T&T, which is highly recognized as being the land of soca and calypso, seems to be sprouting out many versatile and lyrically conscience reggae singers. Some of these reggae artists have been very successful, signing with big recording labels such as VP Records. However, as with most things in life, we must all start off small and allow things to grow and blossom with time.
On the evening of March 26th, Carenage born Stefan Wilson a.k.a Verse iTal launched his debut album titled 'Love Cry' at the Coco Lounge. Of course TJJ was on the scene to check out the vibes and show our local talent some love. We arrived at the venue around 6:00pm. Special invited media together with friends, family and well-wishers all enjoyed a complimentary open bar accompanied by a variety of h’ourdorves all served on countless platters.
Shortly after the man of the hour graced the stage and welcomed everyone. Verse iTal gave a brief insight of his life and spoke of the inspirations of his musically journey. He then introduced each song, explaining what inspired their creation, before giving a live recital of “Mr. Officer”, “Love Cry”, “Nyquil”, “Foh Mama” and “Jah Puzzle”; all featured on 'Love Cry'. The audience soaked it all up with much enthusiasm and delight.
Afterwards it was back to the refreshments and light eats while most folks socialized. Verse iTal then mingled and greeted supporters, but also took the time to enlighten individual media houses about himself and his musical career.
