BOOO!!! Iz Halloween party weekend. Well not Halloween weekend just yet, but it’s the weekend before, and the weekend the clocks go back, and the weekend that the two of the main London party promoters decided to square off with their theme'd “fancy dress” parties. Well we were certainly looking forward to the Babash party. There was much hype in the lead up with lots of with e-mails and Facebook msgs about what to wear and what was going on, bigging up the DJs that were coming up etc. There was even a special price announced for members of FB group Trinbagonians in London, who seem to have some power with the Babash family, although I can’t say what else I usually get msgs from them about. Anyway, the theme for Babash was Thriller II, the sequel to last year’s offering (i.e. Thriller.. duhhh). So yuh could imagine the costumes – Freaky! TJJ worked a rotation tonight to get best coverage of all that was going on. The early shift went at a reasonable time and got a few pics of people who had just arrived with fresh make up – before the jamming start. And lemme tell yuh, some people went all-out!! It was Bad (another MJ reference if yuh missed it) … they had witches and devils (some cute, some scary) as expected and some very well done vampires, draculas, people with knives through their head, sexy police women and fire women, fairies (no not that kind! ... well actually, maybe a one or two ). But there were some really impressive ones, like Papa Bois – must have been hot in there, and the Babash crew didn’t disappoint either, with living dead Aaron the Zombie and DJ Dezzo in a wicked Joker get up – real styles. And I’m still having nightmares about one guy who had some really freaky eyes. I need to get some of those contacts to wear in the office!! lol. So the hype was all about Signal to Noise and Clyde De Outlaw coming up from Trinidad and second shift TJJ was there to capture it all as it unfolded. Signal and Clyde, pioneers in their own right and highly respected DJs didn’t disappoint. People who go to Great Fete Weekend will be familiar with their sets, but it was new to some of this UK crew. Apart from the normal back-in-times, they went waaaay back. I mean, back to my first memories of music … I knew, I knew the tune, but couldn’t figure it out until everyone started singing – “Sunny days, sweeping up, clouuuuuds awaaaay….. can you tell me how to get.. how to get to Sesame Streeeet!” yes, they WIN, I thought!! And they continued with all these songs of my early childhood - from “rubber ducky, you’re the one”…to “Cheers – where everybody knows your name”. It was fantastic. And the very appreciative crowd was hotting up. By now, the upstairs dance area of Worship was packed and hot. Everyone was jamming and real enjoying the music, only to take a drinks/toilet break when the music turned to 70s disco. Some people wanted to do the Twist, but the dancefloor suddenly became spacious. Things did get back on tract later one, especially when they started with “Gimme de Weed”…. crowd started going wild with this and other tunes in this ganja inspired session… real hands in the air, wall banging and gunshot effect clapping. A lot of people who were there, said they liked the vibe of the party. It had character, and characters and we hear that Jamaican chef George had some god food – I know it was smelling good, but didn’t get to sample it. But although the dance floor was packed, the party could have done with some more people. Maybe if the wasn’t some water leaking downstairs then it could have been bigger. Or maybe upstairs was actually perfect for the numbers that did come out. Whatever, get your costumes ready for next year … it was advertised!!!!! Well last shift came through after the other party, because the good people at Worship allowed the party to continue so partygoers got full benefit of the clocks going back – an extra, plus more……and what a time did the people in Worship have … who say the people was still wining and jirating all til half past three in the morning!!! After a thrilling Busspepper Forbidden – we ending off the night with ah seductive Thriller! TJJ supports Babash Events all the way! Big up Signal and Clyde – yuh gwan good for segment! Skeedy Boops!!! Keep it coming … apparently next year it is … Trillogy!!!! RAH!!!! TJJ coming as tele-tubbies!!!! Hahahahaahha or Pokemons!!!!! We need to really bring back costume parties and partying!!! Why we only have to wait til' Halloween! It's not good!! So from the Forbidden to the Thriller 2 … we had a time … we back on de ball baby!!! Signing
out for this eventful night, Always Fabulous, Never Buss! ==================================== |
