Do you remember Trinidad TV drama series "No Boundaries"? How about "Calabash Alley"? That was real 1st class local entertainment back in the days, the very days when TTT was still TnT's #1 TV station! We took you on a lil' drive down memory lane huh? Well, there's a brand new Caribbean TV drama series called the "The Reef". And ever since it's video promo was circulated on the Internet a few months ago via channels like Facebook, the anticipation and hype really began. "What's this new show? And when and where can we see it?," were the questions on everyone's mind. On Thursday May 1st, The Reef Red Carpet Launch was held at the luxurious Hyatt Regency to not only give special invited guests a sneak peak of the the 1st season of The Reef, but more importantly, to inform potential investors about the synopsis and rationale behind the series. The same director that give us "Westwood Park" (1997) TV series, Danielle Dieffenthaller, produced and directed The Reef. During the evening's formal speeches, Dominic Beaubrun, CEO of the Caribbean New Media Group (CNMG), along with other key speakers praised Danielle for her superb quality of work, and for setting the bar at a high level in the Trinidad & Tobago film industry. "The Reef ... it's an investment, it's the future of the industry," Beaubrun remarked. Later on, the lady of the hour, Danielle Dieffenthaller, got her opportunity to thank everyone for their support (even requesting for everyone that was a part of the production get on stage) and reach out to investors. Her younger brother, Kees (also a cast member of The Reef), then took to the stage with two other members of his band (Kes The Band) to perform the theme song "Come a Little Closer" for The Reef. Kees then personally dedicated one of his personal favourites to his sister, "Lion". We at Trini Jungle Juice are really excited about The Reef - it's definitely one of the most anticipated local operas to hit the shores of Trinidad and Tobago! What we particularly like is the fact that the show features new, raw talent (local celebrities like Kees Dieffenthaller, Kwesi Hopkinson aka Hypa Hoppa, Nadia Batson, Nigel Rojas (Orange Sky) and Jus Jase), in addition to, some well known local actors. And we were told that the 2nd season will also feature Bollywood stars and Hollywood starlets. Want to see everything that took place at The Red Carpet Launch?
