Captain's Log ... Day 3 - Miami Carnival 2008 Fetealotathon®

The TJJ Red Team decided to indulge in Socavivor's International Flag Night at Bayside Hut . Daddy Juice didn't have to ask twice .. he dun know that's where to find meh come Miami Carnival Friday night!! There were so much other fetes going on, but this fete has always been my favorite. I recommend going early to catch the majority of the live performances - the line is usually HUGE! Now the rest of the TJJ gang usually roll thru after the other events wrap up .. this fete is known for going on until 10 o’clock in de morning!

After leaving a house lime around 2am, we started rolling. As soon as we got to the toll, traffic start and 'Five-O' directing traffic, so you could only imagine the amount of fetegoers on hand. Is a good thing ah see Mr. Officer directing traffic who was able to squeeze us in the entrance. If not, we would have to park further away and walk to de fete.

Waaaaaay .. if you see people (outside and in). Ah had to squeeze through the crowd .. nuff people get a li' wine before meh first stop by the bar, where I buck up my Bajan sistrens ... ah go see allyuh in T&T for C2k9!! Before you know it, Machel took the stage. All man jack looking in shock, because Machel is always the last to perform. Well, ah run to the stage and got in position to wuk (real work this time)! *click* *click* .. no flash, photos coming out dark ... BIG stueps!! Well ah improvise - you always have to have a Plan B when it comes to any TJJ Fetealotathon®!

Montano performed tunes like "Blazin D' Trail", "Defense", "Congo Man" and "Jamishness". You see that chune "Jamishness" ... nuff woman find somebody to JAM or like myself, push back on a speaker like iz nobody business!! Oh lawdy, Patrice Roberts came on stage and performed "Wukking Up", "Tempa Wine", and "Rollin'" so it was a serious jam session in de crowd with everybody holding dey flags up high! Other performances by Farmer Nappy brought the crowd to badness and madness.

When 4am reach, Giselle D’ Wassi One came on stage to tell everyone de party done. Now allyuh know how we Caribbean people never want to go home. Ah see the City of Miami Police came out in full force - it was like a police convention - police everywhere!! Ah get frighten, yes! smile So people had no choice but to move out to the exit. According to some inside sources, the fete permit was granted until 4am, so the city stop the fete. Always some political red tape when it comes to Caribbean events.

Well, I did manage to meet Richard Thompson, Trinidad's own 2008 Olympic Silver Medalist (Men's 100M), also known as the world's second fastest man, who was in attendance. And yes ladies, he is even hotter in person!! I couldn't even thief a wine because they had already stop de music!! So I had to rush to start taking photos before the crowd left, only to encounter more technical difficulties with the camera. Most of my pictures of partygoers got erased. Lawd, I had some great pics of dem ladies in dey sexy outfits and de men without dey shirts ... stueps. I do humbly apologize folks.

Well, onto the next adventure .. so much fetes to choose from, I doh know which one I will end up at, yes!!

Gone to get meh camera fixed,
Sig Juice aka Party Scene Investigations
