Do you call yourself a "Soca lover"? Do you find yourself present at a Soca party every weekend? Do you have what it takes to fete for 2 days?? Well if you answered yes to all three questions, then I'm more than positive you attended SOCA OR DIE 8 – Battle of the Sexes – The 2 Day concept!!! The first round was held at Kool Haus on Saturday with an all-star lineup which included, DESTRA and her big band ATLANTIK, along with TIZZY from EL-A-KRU, MAXIMUS DAN, KERWIN DUBOIS and FARM P. Plus, the band launching for TRIBAL KNIGHTS (2007 Caribana Band Of The Year - 'B' & 'C' Category).

This is the first time ever that one fete has lasted two days, so de TJJ crew had to ensure they had de energy and stamina to live through Saturday and Sunday. After a few Redbull's and ah lil' workout session, we made it down to Kool Haus around 9pm ... early enough to ketch all de action in de parking lot, line etc. - and enough time to pace drinks. The lineup moved very quickly with no stickin' ah'tall, and you could feel the hype as fete-go'ers entered the building one by one. Music was blaring through the speakers as soon as you walked through the doors with fete-go'ers warming up for de big show.

The musical remedy was brought to you by Dr. Jay de Soca Prince, marXman, Jester, Mr. PlayHouse and Crystal Vibez. It was hosted by our bess mc’s E-Man and Dirty Dez from the KOS family and S.K.F. There was no procrastinating, as the show kicked off around 11pm with the 2008 mas presentation of Tribal Knights – "Deep Rising". As the ladies graced the stage there was a sea of colours on display - from green to red, blue to orange, Tribal Knights was ready to cater to your every need. The models posed, wined and chipped around the stage until the crowd had an eye full. There was no stickin' after the presentation, with Toronto’s favourite singers Kerwin Dubois and Farm P next up. With this fete lasting 2 days yuh had to have known that Kerwin would drop his big chune "2 Days" ... c'mon now, alongside "Gyal Farm" and "Madology". Farm P then called out to all his "Sexy Chocolate" girls in de crowd.

Once Du Bois and Farm P kicked off the vibes, Destra & Atlantik picked up the pace where they left off. Performing her seductive 2008 hit single on the Banjo Riddim "Saddle", she had the fellas in de crowd gawkin' at her winin' skills! She then dropped "High" amongst other new chunes, before taking us down memory lane singing hit after hit like "Bonnie and Clyde" and "Carnival". Her performance was nice and lengthy, enough to enjoy it to the fullest and yet still be hyped for the other big artists to follow! After she blessed the stage with her musical talent, another big female artist came on stage to continue de vibes ... Tizzy from El-A-Kru was ready to "Kick it Off" and have the ladies "Expoooooose"!! After she had all de ladies in ah frenzy, the one and only Maximus "The Gladiator" Dan controlled the mic telling de crowd "You think it is ah wine up ting?! ... Yuh think this is a one month ting with I? Yuh think this is a two month ting with I? Yuh think this is a season ting with I? Well then you lie, lie, lie...." Woiiiiiiiiiii!!!! That is what yuh call lyrics!!!!!!! After mashin’ up de stage with "Wine Up Ting", he performed "Land Dem", "Fighter" and ended tings off on ah positive note with "When we say loooooooooove... just bring out your love and come (ay ay) ... join de "Love Generation"!!!

Once the artists finished mashin' up de stage, de vibes continued on with our favourite DJ's spinning chune after chune. Fete-go'ers, crews and even DJ's continued chippin' and winin' around the Kool Haus drinkin' and jumpin' like there was no tomorrow .... lol! The party finished around 4AM with fete-go'ers amp'd for Round 2 at Palazzo tomorrow. The TJJ crew had to organize ah case of Redbull because we definitely need de stamina to wuk-up on Sunday!

KOS famalaaay ... we will see allyuh tomorrow!! We in this ting fuh LIFE right??!!
