Do you remember that huge snowstorm we had last winter?? When everyone on de road was stuck and those at home refused to go outside?! Well de TJJ T-DOT crew remembers that night like it was yesterday ... we were at Ember's Banquet Hall for the first ever Soca Under De Mistletoe fete brought to us by de Soca Prophets and when ah tell yuh we see snow that night boi! That fete truly proved who were de real Soca heads in Toronto and who weren't!! Fete-go'ers had to dig out their cars to get to de fete, and with determination, they all made it! This year, the weather network was calling for more snow and very chilly winds outside but yet again, de die hards came out in abundance to de same spot regardless to what mother nature presented to us.

We tried to make it to Embers as early as possible to avoid the heavy snowfall that was on its way. Fete-go'ers were already in de parking lot by the time we arrived and drinks were being passed around with shaky hands.. lol! It amazes me how nothing stops West Indian's from bussin' ah pre-lime ... it could be rainin' or snowin' and we still outside knockin' back ah few drinks to warm up de soul! smile

Once we got inside, we were feelin' nice wid de couple drinks we shared wid de limer's but there was no need to worry about heat because inside Ember's was haaaaawt! The heater was on full blast so there was no need to worry about that cold breeze gettin' into de building. On de one's and two's keepin' de fyah blazin' for de night were Soca Sweetness, Dr. Jay and de Soca Prophets. The Soca Warrior Crew took over the dancefloor for an early fete "warm-up". They did some jumpin' jacks, stretched out a few muscles and jogged around the room as they prepared to dun de place! Fete-go'ers were amped off of their energy and immediately got into a vibe as they joined in the circle that waas jumpin' up in de middle of de dancefloor. Drinks were flowin' all night, and it seemed like everyone in de building was tight ... from DJ's to MC's to photographer's to winer's ... EVERYBODY was havin' ah ball!

Now this fete was called Soca Under De Mistletoe so there were Christmas decorations hung everywhere. Soca-lover's were winin' and grindin' under each mistletoe and some even made use of them by attaching it to their bodies like ornaments.. innovative huh? (see photo - lol) Geez an ages!! There was so much heat inside Ember's we coulda melt all de snow outside, yes! Fete-go'ers partied hard until about 3am as de DJ's started play the last big chunes to exit de building. Lights were on and the security guards were harassin' us to exit the premises, but not even them could stop us from enjoyin' another great Soca Under de Mistletoe fete. We made ah last run around de party and then geared up for de dreadful weather outside. Lucky enough, Leon de corn-soup man was set up outside to provide us wid something warm for our cold tummies!! smile Thank goodness he luv's de West Indian community as much as we luv him! *lol*

Wipin' corn off meh face and lickin' up ah bake and shark...
Mizz Kayz lookin' for ah next mistletoe to creep up under!
