OMG! We don't know where to start! At 5am we were up getting, ready for a boatride. Yes a boatride! Mind you we tyad no rass eh, but it's one of those rides that yuh just can't miss. NYCV in association with Back to Basics were having their annual Silent Morning boatride. After making a few wake up calls to the crew, including our DC rep, L Boogie, who just couldn't miss the ride as well, we were off to the boat around 6am. Geez an ages we pull up to the pier and it have people fuh daaaays! Sheepshead Bay was looking like the Parkway for Labor Day. After 20 mins of circling around for a park, we finally found one behind God's back. *lol* On our way to the boat, I noticed every street corner had a set of people crawling out. We began to think that we should hurry up just in case we get left out. There was just too many people! After linking up with the rest of the crew we boarded, but one hour later we were still at the pier, and people were still boarding at this point! TWO HOURS LATER... I'm like Nah! I could have slept for an extra hour (I need my beauty sleep yuh know) ... THREE HOURS LATER... What the foosa! It's almost 9am and the boat now pulling off!! Well at least the music was on so there wasn't too many complaints. Folks were too busy drinking and jamming. But oh my goodness to navigate through this crowd was pressure! I had to walk sideways, dip low, all kinda ting! It was way too crowded, so crowded that had to thief ah half ah wine ... no room for a full one! On a good note, the ladies were looking their best. I mean it's Sunday morning so hair do's and outfits were on point. Squeezing my way through the crowd I heard some sweet iron beating and found panist Dane Gulston beating iron with the rhythm section. I took a lime there for a lil 5 mins. Good vibes man! Apparently breakfast was being served because I suddenly saw some folks eating, but by the time we got to the lower level the food was gone! Cheups!! I headed to the bar and was again disappointed and instantly made a u-turn. The time I had to wait for one drink, I would have died from thirst. Someone thought of the friendly TJJ photographers and bought drinks for the crew. Cheers! The DJ's for the morning definitely put it down. Dr. Wax, B2B and Natural Freaks all took turns. Not to mention Kerry, the percussionist killing it in a corner! At this point I'm sweating bullets, so I headed outside for some air and ran into DJ Hazard from DC ... like everybody come down for this one yes! All of a sudden the boat started shaking. B2B was on, and he had everybody jumping with their hands in the air. I even saw a man hanging from the roof top on the people boat! Lawd! The vibes on the boat was cool. We had a blast although we definitely need waaay more room. Personally I think you guys need your own personal island next year! Peter and Carver, we appreciate the love!!! We're off to get some rest for Mugfest 5 later. Text-a-holic juice for the TJJ fam p.s. I seriously need some Visine! |
