Day 3 - Miami Carnival 2008 Fetealotathon®

This year, Scruples Block-O had the vibe. TJJ reviews aren't usually lost on promoters. A couple years ago we made some recommendations based on the tremendous growth of this event and sure enough, the following year, the party went to the next level service-wise. New venue this year, but the service remained excellent. The one thing you want in a Free Drinks party, is easy access to the free drinks! No exaggeration, we never had to wait longer than 30 seconds for a drink in this dance. With a bar running about 1/2 the length of a football field and what appeared to be over 40+ bartenders, all properly set up and ready to serve, would easily explain the great bar service.

Unfortunately, by the time our camera crew got on the inside, we already missed the performances from the HD Camp's Patrice Roberts, Zan and Farmer Nappy alongside Shal Marshall. However, resident Block-O DJs High Fidelity/Less Than Zero are always a sure bet to have a dance bouncing. Hypa Hoppa (Radioactive/RED 96.7FM), the hype man took over the dance at its peak and did not let it slip one bit. Hoppie even treated the crowd to a back in times Calypso session which including selections like Sparrow's 1956 Road March "Jean & Dinah" and infamous "Congo Man", before demonstrating the "Kitchy" dance to the Lord Kitchener's 1978 "Sugar Bum Bum". Partygoers definitely got a belly full of Soca with slight Dancehall and a touch of Hip Hop at this year's blocko. We must large up DJ's NMS and De Rebel as well.

Now if we had to make one recommendation for this new venue it would be to do something about the echo in the warehouse. We're pretty sure they're speakers made to handle such venues. Other than that, this one remains top on the TJJ Miami Carnival Fete-a-lot-athon & Dance is RAM 2008 lists. By the way, love the decor (photo)!!
