The temperature on the outside was just about freezing ... well it's winter in NYC. Team TJJ headed out to show our good frens, Bunji and Fay-Ann some love at the Base nightclub in BK. We don't worry about parking anymore because we have a lil' fren in the Exxon gas station that takes care of the TJJ-mobile while we in de dance ... for a small fee of course. So bam, car safe but why oh why did I almost get blown away! Rheeealll breeze! Of course getting in is always no problem when it comes to a Foreign Accent event. Big up Rawlins for taking care of us! We arrived quite early, so the fans were just filing in slowly but surely. Stylz and Foreign Bass were dropping some chunes and everyone was getting into the mood to find somebody to JAM! The service at the bar was great!!! I mean, you guys always have sexy ladies to serve up some of your favorites, but this time whoo hoo... there was a cutie hooking us up with our Grey Goose staple! Shall we say that tipping is not a city in China! Lol!!! Before we knew it the fete was in full swing and folks were buying drinks by the bottles!!! Of course the show was not expected to start until around the usual 2am-ish so folks were still coming in! The coat check line was a mile long. Just when everyone seemed like their heads were right where they wanted it to be, enter NYC's finest... yeah NYPD!!!! For the first time in the history of Petite's history of fettin' in Brooklyn, never did she experience the boys in blue swoop down on a fete and stay for over an hour!!! No music. Nuttin' ... crickets....... ok well drunky crickets because they bar was still able to serve liquor. Hehe. Apparently it was the inspection time of the year and they were searching for a reason to shut down the fete. How do we know you ask? Hey, the TJJ ladies always find out everything! So don't think you can pull one over on us okay! Just kidding... but seriously though, I'm sure everyone was nervous. Word has it that they had already shut down three other venues that night due to various code violations. Everything turned out okay and the music and wining resumed after a big round of applause. Big up to The Base for staying on top of their ish! Soon after, it was showtime. Miss Alisha of Iwer George's radio station collaborated with the Vibesman Redman of 104.7 FM here in Brooklyn, to introduce the reigning Soca Monarch King Bunji Garlin! He set it off with one of his 2007/2008 hits on the Lehgo Me Riddim riddim, "Famous"!! Crowd wile!!!! Well what can we say about Bunji .... hmph, he brought a very captivating energy to the stage and before we knew it... enters the 2008 Road March Queen Fay-Ann Lyons!!! Crowd quadruple wile!!! Maaaannnn... it was a Hitalotathon® with the husband and wife tag teaming hits! Well we don't have to tell you that Bunji blazed us with "Firey"!! Crowd wile again!! Lawdeee... not once yuh know, but twice!!! The first time he was accompanied by steel pan and the second time was just for good measure after the crowd done mash up fine fine like chilli bibi!!! LOL!!! Ah mean, Bunji cyar come to Brooklyn without taking us back to when he just buss on de scene! All we have to say is WOWZA!!! Her majesty, Fay-Ann, also turned the crowd out with her past and present hits! We had to duck and practically run because some folks just literally "Get On" like dey wanted to mash up de place!! There were some surprises... Scarface, Benjai and Vincy's Problem Child all hit the stage!!! It was really action time at The Base. Thank you Foreign Accent Promotions. We love yuh bad!
