So it's Day 2 of the TJJ Notting Hill 2008 Fete-lympics® and Team TJJ is heading to one of the most prestigious events of this carnival season - The Machel Montano HD Concert - Live! Unplugged! Xtatik! Mr. HD! Patrice Roberts! Farmer Nappy! Zan! and of course the infamous HD dancers! - an event to remember! This is the fourth year anniversary that PoisonUK has brought the infamous Xtatik (now HD) and Machel to perform live and un-cut for London, and every year the event never disappoints (we may change our minds) After a resounding concert last year (view coverage), and trust us, it was a heart pounder ... complete satisfaction!

The Kentish Town Forum is well known for famous performances such as The Roots, Junior Reid, Razorlight and finally now the infamous Machel Montano HD on stage! Carded for the night to entertain the crowd were London's own DJ Markee and DJ Spice reppin' NY amongst others. The MC for tonight was the ever so ready Martin Jay and his raunchy vibes!

The DJs really did their job and they certainly entertained the crowd - both floors of the forum - playing tunes from the vast soca genre as well as from past years; either from Trinidad & Tobago and other Caribbean islands - Soca Is Bess! People were dancing and socializing, while of course getting their drinks from the bar! Old friends meeting up - crews and crews getting their location - all ready for the HD show!

Before Machel's performance two Bajan sensations delivered unprecedented performances - Statement and Lil' Rick. Statement was the one to serenade the young ladies, dance and hold on to their face - make the ladies want to go home and make love - it was not for the fellas ... hahahahahaha. Lil' Rick aka Hyper Dawg however has to be one of the greatest performers from Barbados ever - he delivers a performance beyond measure and has the vibe of the crowd moving - especially when you get to invite young ladies on stage and test their wuk up abilities! "Girls Gone Wild" ... Boom Bang Bang!! Some cultures may find it disgusting ... I think we Caribbean people love it too bad!! smile

Machel Montano HD then followed the Bajan acts in what has to be a condensed performance we have ever seen from Mr. HD and his band. Accompanied by Zan, Mr. Machel began their performance with all the hits from 2008 and a medley of their 2007 releases. Farmer Nappy and Patrice Roberts later accompanied HD on stage to dish out their sexy songs from 2008. You all know the big tunes ... Farmer Nappy's "Chippin". Promptly at 2:00AM, and of course the five minutes of "Jumbie" being performed over and over - one must admit it is a song that would never die - the concert was at a end as Montano was preaching ... "After the show is the After Party!" .... let's fast forward ....

Arriving at SE1 for the After Party - line long, long, long like last year. Chaos in the street as the promoters and club bouncers tried to control the massive crowd, who were anxious to get inside. The infamous SE1 has been the home for numerous events thrown by PoisonUK and it is a venue with many faces, however we didn't like tonight's venue layout at all, and because of the way it was set up, the party felt most boring. To be honest, we weren't sure where we were - yes it was an after party - but many people just weren't feeling the vybe and made an early exit.

Something was definitely missing. Don't get us wrong, the place was packed ... loads of big name DJs (DJ Spice, Jugglers, Gladiators and much more) from all over ... bar was unstoppable ... speakers pounding music ... some people were dancing ... some people were sleeping ...  something was missing ... not what we expected .... especially as last year (view coverage) was off da chain!! Oh well, we'll see how next year goes down.

Off to bed!! We need our rest ... three events on Day 3 of the TJJ Notting Hill 2008 Fete-lympics® - Shipwrecked, Next Level PoisonUK Ultimate All Inclusive and UK TRIBE Launch .... It's going to be a rush baby!!!
