Hey all! Fall is in the air!!! Believe it or not, its my other favorite season. I just love the crisp air and of course the fabulous fall fashion. I was on a solo beat this time around when I attended To Educate Is To Emancipate - The Trilogy at The Park in the city honoring Dr. Eric Williams 97th birthday. This event promised to be fabulous, so you know your girl whipped out something fabulous to wear without skipping a beat! First of all though ... rain! Rain, rain, rain ... dam it! I obviously did not get the memo. BTW rain and suede boots ... steups! Anyway, upon arrival at the restaurant I was escorted to the reception area of the penthouse where fireplace was warm and inviting. This place was very swanky ... I didn't even have to submit to the normal quick frisk!! Yaaay! Yall know how I just looove it when I am groped by security! On the inside, I walked in on the good Professor Selwyn Cudjoe wrapping up his speech. The rain and traffic caused me to miss it, the pan solo of the national anthem and the drummers. Shims man! All was not lost though. Carol Addison was soon introduced and treated us to a performance of her song "Shine". Wow, that brought back some childhood memories boy! Oooop! Did I just blow up my age? Lol! Just kidding. Some of the elders were really into it though. They were swaying to and fro and singing along. The
party changed gears after the speeches and singing ended. It was time for some
swanky jamishness! Seriously ... have any of you been to a cocktail party where
everyone is looking and feeling fabulous, sipping on cocktails and nibbling on
assorted hors doeuvres all the while chippin' to the sweet sounds of soca
with a fierce shoe game? WELL ... let me tell you it was fah-hab-bulous!!! Soca
at a cocktail party ... love it! Of course, after a few cocktails and schmoozing the real jamishness started when de big big chune "Push Bumpers" came bellowing out of the speakers! The likes of John Stanton of NBC and Designer Simon Duncan were jamming right along with the rest of us!!! This event really was fabulous and I am looking forward to the next event. Thanks Last Soul Boy! Petite
