The weather outside might’ve been cold this weekend but the vibes inside Kool Haus were definitely on fyaaaah! Once the holiday season is in full effect, fete-go’ers usually anticipate a few signature events. This rounds was all about Jingle Jam brought to you by CVR Entertainment. This year will be round 4 and with 4 great performers on the bill yuh know we couldn’t wait to be there!

After takin’ ah last shake at de Big People Parang and Comedy Show, de TJJ crew quickly made it downtown with ample time to catch the performances. There was no line up when we got there so we headed straight backstage to settle in and prepare for the show promoter Rich Nice organized to celebrate Obama’s victory and to embrace our West Indian culture. Once we headed into the crowd, fete-go’ers were warming up for the artists as they jammed to sounds of soca played by D'Enforcas, DJ Jeff (W.I.C), DJ Boomerang and Super Jigga TC (direct from Trinidad). Of course, they had to have the voices of TC and S.K.F hypin’ up de crowd!

We were there for about 10 mins when the entertainers began steppin’ out onto center stage. The first artist to bless the stage was Toronto based soca artist, SLAMMER CUTTER with a surpise performance. He “Mash Up” as he "Networked” with de ladies in the crowd and then blew us away with his new song for 2009 “Hangover”. The next artist to come on the stage was Trinidad & Tobago’s soca phenomenon, SHURWAYNE WINCHESTER, who had the whole crowd on their toes as he sang “Dead Or Alive” twirling his towel around in de air. Fete-go’ers parted the crowd to “Open The Gate” as they got ready for de next “Band Coming”! Continuing de rel sweet vibe was de Vincy Soca Santa SKINNY FABULOUS, who ran onto the stage with no hesitation and had everyone junmpin' “On The Spot” and showing them whose head was truly baaad! *lol* Now I’m positive you’re wondering.. Soca Santa?! Skinny Fabulous?? Well let me fill you in ... during his incredible performance, Skinny ran to the DJ booth to grab a few bags filled with goodies. The eyes of all de fete-go’ers lit up like it was Christmas morning as he threw presents into de crowd! He sang “juk, wine, stick go down” and the crowd chanted Soca Santa as they opened their gifts. Shovel’s, shoe boxes, clappers and even a toilet brush went in de air as fete-go’ers laughed and enjoyed their presents! Christmas came early for the people at Jingle Jam ... woooi!

Now after a short intermission for everyone to check the bar, the show continued with FAY-ANN LYONS-ALVAREZ who showed everyone how to “Get On.. Get On.. Get On!” She directed the crowd to run to each side and then back to the centre and they obediently followed her instructions. It was like she had them under a Soca spell! *lol* BUNJI GARLIN defiantly came on stage right after and closed the show in a right way, pleasing us with new and old songs like “Bomb Song,” “Snake Oil,” “Fireman,” “Firey,” “Bring It” and of course “Bad and Famous,” proving to us that he is lyrically blessed. He blew the socks off of us while freestyling about President Obama and then thanked de fete-go’ers for showing their love and support for himself and all other soca artists in de building. What topped off our night was when Fay-Ann took over the DJ booth to help select songs for Bunji as he took ovr de stage ... it was soooo cute! Mr. and Mrs. Alvarzez working together as one.

Once the performances were all over, we vibed until about 3:30am because de music was still pumpin' so we weren't ready to leave yet! We jumped with the different crews as we all dreaded for de night to be over. Some of the artists even took a jump in de crowd, showin' us that they were havin' jes as much fun as we were ... de Christmas spirit was definitely in de air!!!
