Oooohhh how exciting... Team TJJ NY loves a theme! Glow with a touch of yellow ... cute ... ent? Well in keeping with the 'late for a boatride syndrome', we linked up with crew and crew and headed to the city to catch the boat which was boarding at midnight. We left Brooklyn at 11:45pm!! *lol* What's even more hilarious is that the boat did not leave until almost 2am! The NYC Parks and Ferry authorities had us wrangled like cattle for over an hour and a half. Who knew what the problem was? All we know was it was freezing!!! The wait was not cool, or maybe it was ... literally! Folks were too glad to board. Man every man jack made a b-line for the bar. You know a shot of sumting will warm you right up! Hey ladies, you all were fabulous!!! I hear that some had custom made outfits for this event. Dresses ruled the evening. The men also made an effort to look fabulous, although there were a few rebels wearing black (lol). One guy told me that he in fact was dressed accordingly because his sneakers were white with a yellow sole! Another said he was wrangled up at the last minute. Hee hee, allyuh great, oui! The music supplied by DJ Anonymous, DJ Spice and D' Professionals had the boat rocking!!! The session was going real good and then all of a sudden, I was a one woman band. Turns out, food was sharing!!! LOL!!! My crew and nearly half the folks that were jamming around me were all on the lower deck enjoying platefuls of rice and peas, stewed chicken, callaloo, pie, b-b-q, curry ... wowie!! There was a line with folks waiting patiently, with some wining hard (photo)!!! After all bellies were filled with the great food, the jamishness resumed. As usual, everybody wants to be on the top deck. The boat was rocking and folks were reveling in falling over each other. At one point I took a pause to enjoy the view. You would swear I had never been sailing up and down the Hudson like 200 times already!!! We were also entertained by the talented Dane Gulston, ripping the pan as usual. I swear he has renewed my love for pan music! After that treat the vibe continued with sweet soca vibes. Hear nah, the music was so sweet, before I knew it, we were chipping off of the boat to the tune of 3 Canal's Morning Neighbaaahh (run the track)!!!! What a night! Thanks to Felix and friends for having us aboard again this year. So amm, next year .... Glow 9 "A Touch of Pink"? Petite ..... mmuwah! ==================================== |
