F·R·I·E·N·D·S
... "Miami Carnival Edition"
F.R.I.E.N.D.S ... F.R.I.E.N.D.S ... F.R.I.E.N.D.S ... hmmmm, what can we say? From the location to the people to the music to the DJ's to the entertainers to the women to the food to the TJJ family present to the women ... oh, ah said women already right?? My bad ... but this is just to tell yuh that everything was on and poppin' Carnival Saturday night at Sosta Lounge for the F·R·I·E·N·D·S "Miami Carnival Edition". This party started off like ah big lime - either partygoers arrived early enough to hangout outside or wanted to reserve a spot on the dance floor inside. Either way, the lime outside was sweet. And yuh know how we like a free ting, so the lovely promo girl handing out VP Records gift bags was a nice lil' extra touch. We know that cricket bat shaped bottle opener from MoneyGram will get a good workout ... and we even saw people cracking open their mini bottles of Angostura Bitters to add a lil' flavor to their drinks. Around 1am, then we went inside to meet a packed house. The big question for the night was, would Iwer George live up to everyone's expectations when comparing to the natural Carnival high Mr. Slaughter created last year? (see coverage). Well, Iwer mash up de dance with some of his ole time chunes, and then he really tore up de place with his 2005 soca hit "Water". De big man in de business even threw water on de crowd, forcing our TJJ TV camera crew to run for cover!! And guess what? Yuh guessing? Allyuh give up? When he threw water on the crowd, it was as if he was spraying the crowd with an energy drink because after that, it was rel jamishness in Sosta Lounge!! After Iwer, SKHI (a familiar face from last year) came on and held his own on stage. First, with 2k8 hit "Desire" then with his new release for C2K9 "We Alright". Look out for our exclusive TJJ TV Interview with SKHI coming soon. Later on, Radioactive direct from Trinidad blessed the dance. DJ Dane & Hoppie called down some big tunes boy ... and all the crowd could say was, "Waaaayyyyy!!" They complimented what C.I.Dee Sound, Major Links and Sprang Int'l (DC) had started earlier that night ... nonstop niceness! Radioactive, we still would love to hear allya use some more arsenal in your set ... we know allya have de BIG dub and soca specials ... so play chune and stop holding back nah man!! As the party matured and the place got warmer, the more people drank ... and the more waistlines began flinging!!! The TJJ crew didn't even have to put down the cameras to get on bad ... and by the way, we get on rel bad!! Question ... How many TJJ Reps does it take to cover an event? ... cause Team TJJ was rollin' at least 15 deep at F.R.I.E.N.D.S!! And for the record people ... if allya ever see Giselle The Wassi One in ah party and not on the mic ... well, let's just say yuh had to be present to experience the kind of party where Giselle partying more than MCing!! We also spotted a couple celebs in the house ... shhh, but we're pretty sure former NBA All Star Jamal Magloire had ah good time! We have to say much respect to Collin and the entire sixAxis Ent. crew for the usual love ... whoever cook dat pelau and corn soup WIN!! F.R.I.E.N.D.S is quickly becoming the party to go on Miami Carnival Saturday night. JoyJuice ==================================== |
