Flight
Cruise Premium October '08
Flight Cruise is known to pull a crowd of fun loving party animals and this edition was no exception. Despite a late start and a somewhat smaller crowd than is the norm the cruise was the ish as always. The Premium version of Flight Cruise comes with a promise of a premium open bar before boarding. The catch is you have to be early to enjoy the extravagance. Of course, in true Trini style we pulled up just in time to see the bartenders packing their stock away. By the looks of it though, we did indeed miss out on some premium stock courtesy of Hennessy. So onto the boat we went full of anticipation for the good time and endless antics that we know are guaranteed. Traditionally, the boarding period on Flight Cruise has a very mellow vibe that could be compared to a soiree almost. As the crowd slowly fills up the Treasure Queen people take the opportunity to meet and greet each other and go to the bar and get their drinks in order. Its also the perfect time to scope out all the outfits, and trust me The Flight Cruise crowd is always fresh to death. The DJ was playing low music as the crowd continued to board, mingle and get their drink on. As always, one of the best times of the cruise is transformation that takes place when the boat pulls off from the dock at Pier 2. This Sunday was no different. The apparently stoosh crowd, that was two seconds ago standing up eyeing each other and civilly tapping feet and nodding heads to the low music instantly morphed into a scene from a college Mayfair. From this point on the wining never stopped. The girls dressed to the nines were not afraid to let their hair down and dutty wine, and the guys loved every moment of it. By now most of the crowd was on the main dance floor on the lower deck having time amidst a sea of Johnnie Walker Black (no pun intended ). Theres a rumor that this Flight Cruise holds a record for the number of bottles of Johnny Walker Black sold and with a smaller crowd present the ratio of Johnnie to people was even higher. The DJs including Trevlyn and Ishmael the Demolition Man were pelting out the wickedest dancehall, hip-hop and soca tunes in rapid succession keeping the crowd on a permanent high. Then they started a 2008 summer soca session and the first thing that came to mind was, this is not a fete in here ... this is madness!! The crowd literally went insane for the latest soca tunes that have been dominating the airwaves. Not only because they were enjoying the session, but mostly because they knew what was coming and long before a single note of the song even played they were chanting .. "Stabby! Stabby! Stabby!" A survey of the upper decks proved that in every corner of the boat no man or woman was standing. Everyone was wining and having a ball in true Flight Cruise style. Its always a disappointment when the boat pulls back into the dock as the energy is still at an all time high. One thing though ... this always leaves you wanting more!
