Oh what a night!!! D Bussppepper-Incognito launch of their Bacchanal Boat Premium All Inclusive section for Notting Hill Carnival band - Lagniappe. The Incognito crew (Benji, Bevan, Kendell, Melanie and Sophia) have been on the scene for some time now, very much involved in Carnival events, but this year, they decide to stop being Incognito no pun intended and show their faces!! Teaming up with Busspepper they look like they will be a force to be reckoned with.
So this was D launch, but it look like D launch of Notting Hill Carnival and soon to come Trinidad Carnival 2009. As you entered the party, you couldn't miss the Elements banner at the front door. Elements is one of the newest Trinidad Carnival bands for 2009, launching on the 8th August at Pier 1 Trinidad, so look out. We're definitely looking forward to see what they have to offer. We understand that both Busspepper and Incognito are also on board with Elements Mas band. Also, there was a display by Trini Posse UK of their costume in Lagniappes band, Bird Sanctuary. The costumes were nice. Good detail, and they going with a fiery Red! Apparently there is a whole bunch of top name crews in that band this year for Notting Hill Carnival, boy we cant wait!!! Word has it that the Soca Warriors and Rumours Events are also with Lagniappe this year!!
For this Busspepper party there was a change of venue from the well known Abacus nightclub to Prohibition, just a mere few streets away. The change did not stop the peeps from coming out to their regular monthly event. Prohibitions exquisite décor and convenient location matched the Busspepper standards that their patrons have become accustomed to. The venue was very big, and the dance floor was spread across an open space giving peeps enough space to wine and jam. Hi Fidelity/Less Than Zero's Kern Crosby was ripping up the decks as usual, and DJ Markee by no means did any different. As resident Busspepper DJs, the promoters guarantee the best music and vibe, and this Saturday was no different.
As usual, people were moving on Trini time; the place start to ram out around 11:30pm, never mind the party finishing 3am. Being a Launch Party, everybody were anxiously waiting to see the costumes - photos were up on Facebook and Busspepper's website well in advance but nothing is better than seeing costumes up close and in living colour, right!
Before the full presentation, the models mingled in the crowd, and seem to be answering the million and one questions being asked by curious onlookers. This year they playing Sailor. And if that is an indication of how women sailors dress on boats, we going to live at sea!!!!! The overall consensus was they look HOTT!! Some find the shorts sexy, some peeps liked the blue dress. The sections are named: Soca Sailors, Naught Navy and All Hands on Deck. Three options to choose from for the girls and a simple option of a Sailor Jersey & hat for the guys. After all, would a man really choose a section for it's costumes or for the cute ladies in that section?? *lol*
Also being admired were the upcoming candidates to the Miss TnT UK pageant. One must admit there were quite a few cute ones in the bunch! Not to mention, they weren't holding back from having a good time, no one can deny that ... the pics prove it all. Hehe. They werent the only celebrities in the dance, Santon from 3 Canal was also in attendance. The whole band recently arrived in the UK to promote their Trinity Album and perform at gigs throughout Europe. We're not sure their plans yet for Notting Hill, but we're sure theyll be around.
Time for the display, its 12:30am, "All-aboard, Ship Ahoy!" in the background ...... and here comes the girls, and guys of course. First up, Soca Sailors girls in their cute blue and white short dresses, adorned by sailor cap and gloves. D dress short boy! *lol* But hey, what the heck ... it's Carnival, so it could definitely pass!! Next was the Naught Navy - our favourite - cause de pum pum shorts real Hott!! They tooo had a cap and gloves to accessories the costume. This section had two options. For those who favour legs hidden long tights, for those who want to show off legs, shorts. One of the girls accessorized this with fish net stockings. The top was short too, but one of the models showed off the versatility of the design and used a vest underneath the sailor jacket. Nice work!! Finally the males came down. Oh, what can we say. The jersey cool ... they suitable for the theme. Once the girls looking good, we dere!!!
Costumes are all priced at £70 and this includes, free soda & alcoholic drinks, breakfast, lunch, snacks all day, security and plenty jamming all day. As the party continued, Benji let out the news ... 100 people had the opportunity to buy the Busspepper-Incognito Notting Hill Carnival party package for £100. The package unveiled 3 parties all for £100. Shipwrecked Incognitos Ultimate All inclusive - £40, Busspepper Jouvert Business with live performance by Shurwayne Winchester - £25, Monday with D Bacchanal Boat - £70.00. A total of £135, for £100, yuh cah go wrong with dat!!! Before you know it, the music was back up and the crowd got more hyped. Peeps didn't know were to sign up and there was a hurried frenzy! *lol*
At 3AM when the lights came on, there were big smiles and plenty of numbers exchanging! Some peeps were drying their foreheads from the session that had ended, the food area was packed as Hassan was delivering mouth watering stew chicken, pelau, curry goat - we pre-ordered ours, so were all set ... pick up bag and go!! We cannot wait for Notting Hill Carnival 2008 (stay tuned to TJJ Events Listings for all the hot fetes)... it go be Sailorific!!!!! |
