The pre-carnival fete-ing has officially begun and TJJ heading down to Bazoodee, the annual Pier 1 party known to be one of the bigger and better fetes that usually kicks off de season. Now somehow we were running a bit late (no one ever knows why), but as always, some good always comes out of a bad situation. Ah mean, a traffic free journey down the western peninsular... who could ask for more? Especially since we heard that de traffic jam started since 7pm earlier that evening.

After finding a bess and bless parking (thank you lawd), we geared up and made our way into the fete. We entered into the V.I.P area, where we pit stopped to take a glance around and also bring ourselves up to speed with what was going. Standing in what we assumed to be the V.V.I.P area, which was a bit elevated over the rest of the party, we could see the large dome like stage which had been creatively constructed with tons of fancy lighting and the works. There was a large general patron area directly front of the stage with bars running around 2 sides of it, and then to the right was the V.I.P area.

Looking out into the crowd there was definitely a sea of people, however there was still plenty of room to accommodate more patrons, so you could only imaging how big a venue (Pier 1 Carpark) this was. A little after 12:30am, Peter C. Lewis and The Orchestra wrapped up their performance. After The Orchestra, came two of our Bajan friends.... Biggie Irie performing "Band On Fire" (which he's defending his 2007 Groovy Soca Monarch title with) and Peter Ram with his hit for 2008, "Pumpin’".

All night long we observed that the crowd had a little less zeal that what we are accustomed to normally seeing, especially for a carnival fete! This changed a bit when the party went HD giving way to Zan (who has been kicking things off with 2008 tune "Out On De Road"), Machel Montano, Farmer Nappy, Patrice Roberts and Benjai. De "Pressure Boom" man Ricky T, touring with the HD band, raised the energy an extra notch. We must say that the St. Lucian Soca star sure has been getting nuff luv for the 2K8 season.

Soca diva Destra Garcia & Atlantik were the last band to grace the stage. Feeding off the vibe that Machel created, Destra belted out some of her recent hits for the season such as "High" and "Saddle" (where her dancers interact with the brave souls that venture on stage from the crowd to 'saddle up') along with some of her oldies. Tunes like "Jumpin’", "Fly" and "Bonnie and Clyde" will always remain popular no matter how much time has passed. The Two Face and Carib crews were definitely living testimony of this fact, as they masqueraded through out the front sections of general admission portraying cheer joy. On the front line with Destra was the sexy Antiguan Tizzy (El-A-Kru), giving the band a new and welcomed flavour.

After Atlantik's performance, partygoers evacuated the venue rather quickly. Wouldn't you know it, soon after it was just us and the protective services inside de fete. This was a clear indicator that it was definitely time to pack up shop! After one last rolling of the cameras for TJJ TV officially signing out from Scorching Bazoodee, we hit de road. Destination ... Home Sweet Home!!
