With 5 weekends in March 2008 it seemed like forever since the last F.R.I.E.N.D.S. party, and ever since the last Back in Times party last Sept we been anticipating the return of this event from the guys at sixAxis Ent. Well it seemed like all of South Fl was waiting for this one too ... if yuh see people! We does always reach FRIENDS early cause the 25 and older crowd steps out earlier, so we reach before 1AM. Of course sixAxis and TJJ go way back, so we smiled politely at the folks on the line as we made our way to the front to check the guest list and make our way inside. VIP treatment baby! We like it so!! Now a 'Back in Times' party is all about the music, and with the likes of Major Links and C.I.Dee Sound we knew they was gonna be digging in the creates, the CaseLogic CD case or Hard Drive as the case may be. With the addition of Selector Peter T to the lineup, we knew the disco and old school dub was well covered. So said, so done! C.I.Dee warmed up the early crowd with some classic reggae, then Peter T took it up a notch when he buss some Wham! "Wake Me Up (Before You Go Go)" that had the crowd going, so when Major Links hit them with the big big classic "Silent Morning" yuh could jus feel the crowd get more amped. Next up was C.I.Dee Sound, and when that Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam drop yuh could jus feel the crowd go wheeey yuh know how long I ent hear that! So for a hip hop fan like myself who was listening to more rap than anything back in the day, hearing tracks like "La Di Da DI" by Slick Rick & Doug-E-Fresh and "Hip Hop Junkies" by Nice and Smooth made me feel like I was in meh good ole College days. Because of the large turnout for this party it was still pretty early in the night when the promoters had lock off the door and stop admitting people because Sosta was at capacity. So we're sure it wasn't a happy feeling for those folks outside to have to hear Peter T drop some Super Cat "Ghetto Red Hot" on the inside. We felt it for them too, when C.I.Dee took us back to Brooklyn backyard days with tune like "Lota La" by Sonny Mann ft Denise Belfon & General Grant. Well that had the place going, and doh talk but when they switch it up and next is 2008 Soca; then folks was having memories of C2K8. Now when Major Links announced it was the last song there was a loud moan from the crowd who obviously was not in the mood to go home, but when the lights come on and the music stop party done. Eh heh, who say so, a rain start to fall so some folks couldn't leave jus yet so they pleaded for a next tune and right on cue they hit them with some Iwer ... What the people want? ...... "WATER"!!! Well its a good thing plenty people had left already cause that woulda mash up Sosta, yes! We truly felt lucky to not have missed this party, and yuh have to be lucky also to be one of the few that does get to sample some of Djoser's Corn Soup that does be serving quiet quiet down in the back. By the time they announce it on the mic, POT EMPTY! For those of you who were not able to make it inside on the night, we have an insider tip for you. In the future the promoters will taking steps to ensure that their regulars are able to gain entry to their events. So preference will be given to those on their mailing list. So if you want to give yourself a better chance to get in, we suggest you hit them up with an e-mail and get added to the list: email sixAxis Ent <-- Click. If you are not currently getting the eVite or the Facebook invite, then you probably not on the mailing list. We hear next month is FRIENDS "Ladies Night Episode" ... we go be early again for that one! -Party McFly ==================================== |
