Date: Saturday 20th January 2007 Location: St. Anthony's College Grounds. Trinidad Promotions: Privilege Click on thumbnails to see the big picture/entire gallery Three weeks and counting till the Greatest Show on Earth, Carnival. This time of the year is most memorable for Trinbagonians. We look forward to the unity in fetes (every creed and race finding an equal place), the foreigners (Spanish, Italian, French, Dutch, you name it we have it), the release of new Soca ("Frenzy", "Light it Up", "Open The Gate", "I Dare You", "Cold Sweat", "We Maniacs", "Take Over"), boss man vex (reaching to work late because we partied the night before, and going back and party the next day because 'we doh business' hehe), and of course the anticipation, as it draws nearer, to the two biggest days of the year, Carnival Monday and Tuesday. If you're not here for C2k7 then you don't know what you're missing - as a matter of fact you aren't where you're supposed to be! Doh worry TriniJungleJuice.com have you covered!! So like Iwer George say, its 'fete after fete after fete after fete', and of course we Trini's are very appreciative of this. The event this time was "Wicked in White 2007", the venue Jean Pierre Comp.... hold up, St. Anthony's College .... competition from Licensing Fete???!!! Hmmmmm... we think not! TJJ journeyed our way to this event and we must say we it was 'smooth sailing' to St. Anthony's until it was time to park. Oh Losh! If you see cars!!! Patron's vehicles were parked at the front the venue, at the side of the road, halfway onto pavement, in front of resident's house ... oh come on man!!! Fete points lost there!!! Well we tried to make the best of it because everyone else found a park and didn't complain so 'who iz we?' So, onward entry, onward entry, onward entry - 'when we go reach boy!' - we sentiments exactly. If you didn't get a park in front of the venue, the walk you would've had to make, bet you last cent, you woulda be fit for Carnival, hehe. Finally, 'we reach' - passing the scalpers of course, oh gosh they like salt, they in everything! The crowd definitely knew the meaning of 'Wicked in White'. Almost everywhere we turned was white: the bars (tablecloth, tent covering); balloons hanging overhead on what looked like ropes, white; the small stage to the right of the big stage, white; the big stage, white; the doubles man, white (well we had on a white overall hehe) 'Wicked in White' was looking good!! Please note the amount of times 'Wicked in White' was mentioned and you'll understand what we mean when we say everywhere was white! The vibes given off by the crowd was nice. This crowd seemed like the type, if you mash someone and say sorry you'll get back a sorry and not a slap hehe!! Pure sweetness! The stage performance of the artistes namely Fireball, Imij and Co., Destra Garcia & Atlantik, were exceptional as always. The crowd was jumping and waving and wining, it was all good; and mind you folks, this wasn't a free drinks affair, so the vibes from the crowd wasn't because of the 'alcohol' per say but because everyone just had 'vibes'. Well done Promoters, 'Wicked in White' was a success once again this year, but points to note - Security, oh gosh man!! But it's all good we go 'take ah wine' still !!! Coco Juice |
