So Carnival Friday is here and the excitement is in the air. Nuff events jumping off tonight so we have to split up the TJJ Fetalotathon® Team so we don't miss a thing. The blue team heads to VIP Friday, a Carnival Friday staple for this team.... with other TJJ Teams in the Int'l Soca Monarch Finals, Blue Range Cooler Fete, Imagine and Girl Power 2k7. This year the venue for VIP Friday is the Cotton Club Foundation across the street from the Cascadia Hotel. It's Carnival time in TnT and they're tons of events to choose from on any given night, but even more so tonight. You can image the number of calls team TJJ gets on a day like today for fete recommendations. The answer is always the same, "it depends." What you looking for? Shoulder to shoulder action, cooler fete vibes or a mature well dressed crowd in an All Inclusive atmosphere? If yuh looking for the latter, VIP Friday is the place to be on Carnival Friday. So lets head on in and see what's on and poppin'.

First order of business, find the hosts and thank them for inviting us. After that, yuh know the deal man, straight to the bar. ;-) Quick and polite service was the order of the evening. What's more is that they actually remember your drink and have it ready as they see you coming. :-) They must have sent their elite bartender team to this event. It's the little things that can make an event memorable. At the food court we found folks enjoying a spread worthy of a VIP All Inclusive party. Just outside the food court there was a separate bar for specialty drinks such as Piña Coladas and Strawberry Daiquiris. This was a strategic spot to lime, as this was the bar for the ladies. :-)

There is just a different vibe about this fete. Imagine you in a fete and Bunji Garlin and the Asylum band mingling with the crowd before they perform, just relaxed and enjoying the moment. You could almost anticipate a different kind of performance from them tonight, and boy did we get a performance with a difference. Yuh ever see EVERYBODY in the Asylum band sing during a performance? From the drummer to the Bass player, everybody grab a mic at some point and they were genuinely relaxed and enjoying every moment of it. Naturally this aura spilled out into the crowd which made for a special C2K7 moment.

Just when you thought nothing could match that, yuh believe Shurwayne Winchester came through to perform, dude wasn't even advertised to be on the cast! While that in and of itself was big, Shurwayne provided yet another Fetalotathon® 2007 special moment when he came down off the stage to perform in the middle of the crowd, beat that! There was also a Tassa Band on hand. While they sounded really good, their timing was a bit off twice stopping the DJ jus so jus so, to play Tassa. Tassa is for the entrance of the fete for folks to catch a vibe on entry and for the crowd to chip out to when the party done, IMHO. Although Tassa was a good break for the ears when we were stage side cause that system was definitely on the loud side. The venue formula is still being tweaked for this event, but everything else is in place.

This one will definitely be a main event for Fetalotathon® 2008. Thanks for having us V.I.P Promotions crew, see you guys next year!
