This weekend was a prime opportunity for a little recreation. It was Martin Luther King weekend, a long weekend in the US. If yuh livin in Trini or Bim long weekends are a dime a dozen so yuh cyah understand d excitement :-) Indeed it is a rare occasion that Uncle Sam lets you take an extra day off the plantation. Now everybody have they own way of spending a long weekend. Here at TJJ we feel it is or duty to make to most of it, after all some people live through the sights and the sounds that TJJ provides yuh know ;-)So you pick, 30 Fahrenheit or 30 Celsius? We gone!

So the agenda for any long weekend in Trini is: lime, lime, then take ah lime and lime some more and perhaps end it off with ah sweet lime. By the way, here is ah lil Carnival TJJ tip: When yuh reach Trini and you go through the green line in customs, your bags will be scanned. Well boy, ah say look at my little Trini nuh. Two big maco size scanners fuh yuh suit grips to EXIT Piarco. If yuh see line for ONE flight. Wait till Carnival when 3-4 flights land same time, Braps. Plan tuh start hittin yuh duty free liqs inside d terminal cause yuh lookin at at least a deuce on that line.

Fast forward a few hours, now we in Moka. Real excitement den. The big band TRIBE hosting their 2nd Ultra-clusive Carnival fete, "Bliss ...Dare to indulge". Parking was a breeze and for a while there I wasn't sure I was even on the right road, no traffic! Yuh gotta love that. As if that was not enough, as yuh get within ear shot of the fete security fuh days and people directin' yuh to park. That definitely was impressive. Directly outside the fete a tassa side helping to enhance the excitement, nice.

So while we on the line to get in we had to step a side for a quick second while the most fetingist President in the world came in. We see Max (President George Maxwell Richards) in two all inclusive's this weekend, hiyayai. Gotta hand it to his handlers though, they not the usual rude and obnoxious special branch police we have become so accustomed to in Trini. At least my encounters with them in both fetes left me with the impression that they have a lil manners and professionalism in them.

So we on the inside. Now we see why they call this fete Bliss. A décor to appeal to your every sense. Fog machines made it so that you could not even see below your knees, blue lights lit up the flowing white air masses, white trees lined the entrance and beautiful ladies dressed in white greeted you on entry. Wowi wow, and we ent even really walk in the fete yet!

Food fuh days. Tents laden with every kind of fruit you could imagine. Chinese food tents, Arabian food tents, Indian food tents, ribs, corn soup, I could go on and on. Never did we have to even wait for a drink. A phenomenon reminiscent of the drinks trucks in the band in 2006. Excellent service!!!

Of course Bliss was not just about the pallet and the visuals but the entertainment was on point as well. We were treated to the likes of Shurwaye Winchester, Destra & Atlantik, Bunji Garlin, Peter Ram, Fay-Ann Lyons-Alvarez, King Crazy the lovable lunatic with not one but TWO big hits ("Cold Sweat" and "One Foot Cock") for 2007 and Iwer. The show was hosted by RED 96.7FM's J.W. and Blaze. Them fellas like they have the whole country in tears every mornin with shite talk, yes! (Watch TRIBE Bliss 2007 Coverage on TJJ TV)

We didn't want it to end, but alas it was midnight and Bliss 2007 had to come to end sometime. Six hours of Bliss, not too shabby at all. Thanks for having us TRIBE crew!
