With the countdown to Carnival 2K7 well under way, Soca Launch 2K7 was the perfect opportunity not only to get everyone into the spirit of Carnival but also for people to acquaint themselves with all the hottest and latest Soca. In others words, it was a good idea so yuh not chipping/jumpin up in ah fete an eh know who singing de song! LOL

Held on the westside at the JJ Mugs located at Woodbine Mall, TJJ arrived on the scene around midnight with the bouncers doing a good job of moving the crowd quickly out of the extremely cold weather. Needless to say party ram! Well with $5 b4 11pm, A-List DJ's PLUS 3 performances you most definitely couldn't go wrong.

While we maneuvered our way through the crowd doing our thing D'Enforcas were mashin up on the turntables while Dirty Dez were killin'em dead with his mic skills. No sooner it was time to make some space for the performances and first up was Toronto's own Farm P from De Farmers Rhythm Section. Being no stranger to the stage, he licked them down with tunes such as "Horn Man", "Waterman" and of course his big 2k6 tune "Tan Tan". Woman even storm d stage to take ah lil wine.... FIRE!!!!

Next to take the mic was an artist ready to launch his 10th year anniversary album "One More" for carnival season 2007, who recently moved from London England to make the T-DOT his home. We talking about S.W Storm. The crowd was receptive to his performance as he sang a couple of his recent releases "Roti & Rum" (2006) and "One More" (2007) just to name a few. For more on S.W Storm click here.

Finally was up & coming Toronto artist Slammer Cutter who is certainly making a name for himself. This was also the night for him to release his video to his hit tune "Mash Up" and like e-mail really mash up some people life cause the crowd was having real into it! lol.. He also performed "Cyah Stop We" as well as his well known tune 2006 tune "No Scene". These are certainly artists to keep an eye on in the Soca scene, we wish them all the best!

With the performances behind us it was time to get back into the groove of tings Dr Jay, MarXman, D'Enforcas all took turns on the the turntables bussin out the big tunes like Shurwayne's "Open The Gate", Alison Hinds' "Caution", Patrice Roberts' "Sugar Boy" and one of our personal favourites Machel's "Higher than High". Of course Renegade Squad turned the place upside down with the reggae an ting (thanks for the brewskis) but it was really all about Soca tonight.

TJJ rolled out around 3am as the fete was starting to wind down. Much thanks to Dem Fellas for allowing us to pass through. Ammm we not sure what happen to the camera on the night cause it was a different story when we got home but we working on it for the next fete..... DCAL!
