Captain's Log - Date - May 27th 2007 - Location - London

It has been raining non-stop for the last four (4) days and only God know why it is so cold. Nevertheless, with some spare time on my hand, I made a last minute decision to attend Busspepper Promotions - Roots Rock Reggae IV - yeah, they number their parties ... interesting concept - they have talent; these special Busspepper creators. After about an hour of travelling on the underground and taking a bus to The Langley, located in Covent Garden, just five minutes shy of the heart of London - Oxford Circus; I arrived at roughly 12:30 AM.

Yet another interesting venue located in London - The Langley, is an underground club/bar/lounge with many corridors, a uniquely shaped dance floor with a DJ booth - all equipped with the Glass Protection, two main bars and an estranged elevated seating area located behind the main bar complete with a glass wall so one can eat or sit and still look at the patrons on the dance floor. I swear I saw a television somewhere in there too... but I can't remember.

Despite the horrible weather conditions, there was an immaculate turn out for this event to my sparkling surprise. "Carnival Is Real Woman" as Third Bass sang a couple years ago! Well this Busspepper event could have been used for the video for that song. The ratio was unbelievable - unlike the last party. Adding to that spice, was the fact that there was quantity AND quality... something you rarely find in any party nowadays. Kudos to the Busspepper team for this lucky night for it has been my first event from them with so many beautiful women.

As the theme suggested, Roots Rock Reggae, the likes of Capleton, Sizzla, Anthony B, Buju Banton and many more dancehall/reggae artists were the main focus for the night. As in most "Trini-Caribbean" parties ... there must be some Soca and what is not better to play than old-back-in-times Soca & Calypso ... the most memorable one for me being "Dr. Cassandra." Patrons were absolutely enjoying the ecstasy from the music mixing with whatever alcoholic beverage they were consuming - shoes were coming off of feet I say..... Just to give that extra special bubble pon man waist ... you know how the women do their thing. One qualm though is that the same music tracks are being played over and over in every fete ... new music is necessary now! Yeah we all like to hear the old tunes but the rotation and the times they are played - it is becoming monotonous ... but still good nevertheless.

I must say, this Roots Rock Reggae IV lived past its expectations - for two blissful hours, I enjoyed a taste of my own culture, dancing with women I do not even know, drinking white wine and red bull (was not feeling for Guinness) and basically relieving stress.

I even came on an empty stomach, and the usual chef of the year Hasan, was there to provide the patrons with Bake & Shark and Pelau. I had to have me my plate of fine Caribbean seasoning with a special touch of class and ultimately an immaculate plate of food. The rasta chef ... ladies ... put him in house if you don't like to cook - but make sure you could clean, wash, iron ... and do de damn thing ... hahahaha .....

Anyhow, we could not take much photos of this event because it was too cram and too much women to engage in small follies, but we surely tried and had time to see the sites of the place and describe this considerably woman dominated event. Busspepper, thanks for another spectacular fete!! Try and keep it up to this standard.

Always Forward, Never Backward!!
