HEY-YO HALLO, Mad Sic Chicano reporting from the Nation's capital, Washington DC. The setting was Zanzibar on the Waterfront nightclub, and yes massive, the party of the spring that we always look forward to had finally arrived.... RAWKUS'07.

Four years and running I must say the event was thoroughly promoted. I saw flyers everywhere I went for about 3 weeks. It was so known and talked about, and I wouldn't be surprised if I had a few dreams about it! Anyways, one of the major notices from the promoters (Dr. Roast, Tinga14 and Shane) was to get there early as dis year dem sey party done at 3 a.m. on di dot. So said so done............... but one minor set back, if that is di case then they needed to have a few more security ah check ID so that patrons could be rewarded by getting in quickly for being there as early as 11 p.m. Dis in my opinion would have enhanced the vibez even further than what it was.

Okay so TJJ in, security did a thorough job... right away we hail up who fi get hail and then establish our spot. The night started off with Pumpstation pulling out the 70s, 80s disco which tickled the fancy of the older crowd. I sense this was going to be a good one! It never really got poppin' however until di place started filling up, which was about 12:30 a.m. That left 2 1/2 hrs to party and wid de cast ah DJs (Barry from the Jugglers Sound out of Trinidad, Jazzy T from Renaissance and Arif Cooper both out of Jamaica) dem had, di bars well stocked and di ladies in there, 2 1/2 hrs was not and will never be enuff.... we Caribbean People greedy eeeh.

Di party so sweet I think when 3 a.m. actually reach everybody in there had another 2 hrs left in dem to climax di nite. You could see why dis RAWKUS party is so highly anticipated. Beautiful ladies everywhere dancing to the provocative selections by Barry hitting them with the latest Soca (damn I mad I miss Trini Carni), and Arif and Jazzy T with some real dancehall selections that just mek you want 'tek weh yuself'. Everybody know ladies is di focus of dis party and yuh done know di DJ cast well formidable so good juggling ain't an issue @ RAWKUS. Overall, ladies were having a time, fellahs right there behind dem and I could get ah drink anytime I wanted... 1, 2, 3 or di whole damn 6 pack. Drinks was never a problem as bartenders were fast and friendly.

Finally lets do the RAWKUS 2007 checklist:

Best DJ's - Yes
Good Drink Service - Yes
Ladies - Galore
Duration of party - We will probably claim it is always never enuff and that's why RAWKUS Spring'08 will be heavily anticipated once again
