A year ago (Glow 2006 "Exotica") we called this 'The Changing of the Guard'. This year the event is billed as "Pose Rhythm & Style" ... The Evolution of Glow. Coming off a marvelous evening at A.W.O.L, it was a quick change juzzy (Trini for tee shirt :-) and straight to, Pose. No more MOBS 2 for Glow, the evolution saw this one time carnival staple move to the Carnival Court (Jenny's Carpark) on Cipriani Blvd. This was event number nine in the Fetalotathon®. Yuh hear wuh ah say dey? It's Tuesday the week before Carnival and we clockin' nine events already, and the week now start! By now we could smell ah good fete and a bad one a mile away :-) Team TJJ arrives at Pose maybe a little after 10pm. We sayin maybe cause lawd knows it's a good thing we always have a designated driver, we might have tuh double check with him to confirm time of arrival yes. It always sets the pace for a great experience when the entrance is a hassle free one, no worries at the door at all. Thanks to the Island Style Trinidad management for that. Once on the inside we were could see that the artists were very nicely taken care of in their private tents. Out into the crowd now, and yuh know there is nothing like a smallie in a white pants, so it was indeed a pleasure to "conduct inquiries" in this event :-) There were definitely a lot more ladies in this event than men, fellas take heed. It is definitely not the Glow of a few years ago with the mammoth crowds we used to see, as you probably assume by the change of venue, but Glow still scores points for quality. All artistes were decked out by Trini's top designers. Performing on the night were Bunji Garlin & Asylum, 2Ntrigue, Destra Garcia & Atlantik, Roy Cape, Faye-Ann and Imij and Co. Roy Cape is a legendary band, and they always give a pumping sound and entertaining show, we all hold Roy Cape up there with the elite Soca bands in the industry. So why the heck everywhere we go, one man from Roy Cape feel part of his act must be talkin' bout HD and rah rah rah..... and how Roy Cape sound is in analog, a bigger sound! We feel yuh just makin' yuhself look lil silly dey pal, that is just ah humble opinion doh. Secondly, who tell Imij and Co., that the Glow crowd come there to hear Sesame Street? Come na man, better than that. Glow also went on til about four, while other events ended slightly earlier, a fact that Bunji made sure the crowd was aware of causin' ah big reaction from the already hyped up crowd. So we talked about the changing of the guard one year ago, and so it unfolded in 2007. It may not be the Glow of yesteryear but it is still a viable option on the night and provides a nice alternative to folks who rather not do the shoulder to shoulder ramma jamma ting. Nice fete folks, we'll surely see you guys next year! 1:30AM... off to Fetealotathon® event number ten at the Queen's Park Oval, about 3 miles from here!
