It's approximately 8:00 pm, and we're running on two hours sleep from the Machel Concert and After Party, we decided we are going to attend The Ultimate All Inclusive Party put together by PoisonUK and held at Littlecroft Manor. Scheduled for this event are DJs Tweez, Jugglers, Radioactive, Gladiators, DJ Markee & Martin Jay and live performances by David Rudder and Band with special guest appearance by Roger George. As usual with an all inclusive, you come on an empty stomach and eat til your heart is content then you go by the bar and follow the footsteps that the food has left in your esophagus. On the menu tonight as advertised was island cuisine - fry bake with either corn beef, seasoned chicken, mushrooms or vegetables; pholourie; coo coo; callaloo; mix fried rice; coleslaw, potato salad; and four different seasoned types of wings. We did not pay much attention to the details of what we were eating - all we know is that the plates of food went down yummy and tasty and it was a best plate! We recognized one of the chefs - the one and only rasta chef in London - Hasan [D 4 Foods] .... big up all the time .... we ga see ya in Busspepper's fete on Sunday! There were two bars on the premises. One serving strictly cocktails and another serving spirits - Jack Daniels, Malibu, 1919, etc. etc. - and soft drinks. The only beer that was present was Carib and I don't drink that! So after a few red bulls to give me the energy to stay up and survive the night the live performances began. Martin Jay, the MC, introduced the first performer who hails from St. Lucia and has just started in the soca industry, Soca Princess. Performing her lone tune she hyped the crowd for more. Up next is Junior Don also known as Mr. Hybrid. He performed several of his own compositions and also brought on stage, his German/Portuguese dancer. Quite an interesting lad ah must say ... he will reach far. Sir Anslem Douglas then gave us a surprise performance rejuvenating hits like "Who Let the Dogs Out" and "Ragga Pom Pom". His performance was quite energetic and many partygoers were beginning to jump and jirate. Roger George graced us with his presence next and began his set with "The World Needs More Love". He then began singing R&B hits such as Robin Thicke's "Lost Without You" (a song he said he is attempting for the first time and sang it especially for a woman in the crowd named 'Samantha' whose real name is Patrice); and Ne-Yo's "So Sick". A beautiful rendition of Rupee's "Tempted To Touch" immediately followed, and George closed his performance out with his hit from 2002 (alongside Mr. Machel Montano) "Break". David Rudder and his Band took their time to start their show but did so at roughly 11:10 pm. Dressed in white black and red Mr. Rudder did the same set he did at the Rezzarek Concert the night before at the Hammersmith Apollo singing his chart toppers such as "Dust", "Madness", "Give Praise", "Trini To D Bone", "Bahia Girl" and "The Hammer". At midnight the show ended and though it went over an hour of scheduled time patrons still had time to ensure they get in another rounds of food from the food bar - bake and shark; wings or mix fried rice with potato salad and coleslaw. A very mellow night with wonderful vibrations; beautiful mature people and always the soca/calypso art form keeping with the theme of Notting Hill Carnival. See you tomorrow for Chocolate Mas and Busspepper's Carnival Collision. Amiel ==================================== |
