Party seekers had many options, with Colours and Caution between the POS and Chaguaramas area. Off Road was an All Inclusive affair hosted by Cutterz Crew.... so yuh know TJJ had to be UP IN DAT!
With an impressive list of premium drinks and food, we decided to head down to the venue early to beat the traffic and get first dibs on all the good stuff. We made it down to West Palm Hotel with ease passing near Cautions undisclosed location. TJJ got on the scene around 11:30 pm and there was already a crowd on the inside. Looks like lot of people wanted to beat the traffic also! The party was held pool side and white tents lined the entire length of the pool.
People had already begun to gather around the well stocked bar. The promoters made no mistake in delivering exactly what they promised.... Johnnie Walker, Gold Schlagger and Baileys, and that's only a handful of the premium drinks offered at the All Inclusive event. The crowd was also treated to burgers, corn soup and doubles; always a winning combination. So of course, we had to part take and we must report that the doubles were quite impressive. We felt almost sad to have to leave the doubles tent, yes! People were filtering in and soon enough were wrapped tightly around the pool. Some how, despite all the free drinks, patrons managed to stay out of the pool (which we must admit was a shocker). Many people could be seen making their way out of rooms around the hotel. These smart ticket owners could enjoy the robust drinks list to the fullest and did not need to designate a driver; we think that they enjoyed the party more than others.
Humph! As if teasing us with the pool setting was not enough, there was a well decorated VIP balcony over looking the pool area. Oh gorsh, if VIP members wanted to grab their burgers and drinks and sit somewhere there was also a small dining area. The DJs were set up in the lower balcony; where they could see the entire crowd. The vibes on the inside was nice, patrons enjoyed a delightful mix of music from hype man DJ Sean Christian whose selections really got the crowd moving. Peculiar mixes like a techno version of popular dancehall hit Hot Wuk was cheerfully accepted by the crowd.
Around 1 am, local artist Justin Cross performed for the 200+ crowd. He performed his first song acapella style which was a hit with the ladies. He also performed his hit reggae song on the Stiff Riddim, "Just Cease". Detrimental then kept the crowd hype after a pumping performance from Cross. Around 2 am we made a trip back to the tents to check out the vibes there, the bar showed no evidence of running out of drinks and there was a crowd around the doubles tent as if the word had clearly gotten around. Shortly after, we got word that Ziggy Rankin was about to take centre stage. Ziggy performed his hits, almost effortlessly whipping the crowd into a frenzy. Worst yet, under the lower stage area there were two bareback men with flambos spitting fire over the pool! Wo! That surely took us by surprise.
Unfortunately, we had to make our way out after the performance by Ziggy Rankin, but the vibes was still very evident and the robust bar had begun to take its toll. We had to get some doubles and burgers for the road of course. For the Cutterz Crew, the event was a success with the turn out of about 300. They gave people a great alternative, |
