How the tune go again? “Long time, we no fete like this...” or something so. Don’t be too surprised if you don’t remember that song, ‘cause with the number of brain cells killed at an All Inclusive like MUG Fest, failing memory is an expected outcome!

In the weeks leading up to this event, the promoters could be seen everywhere promoting this party... and those colorful mug shaped flyers were hard to miss. So there was some hype leading up to the night and Trini Jungle Juice was interested to see if the party would live up to the hype, as more and more parties are falling short lately. We tried our best to leave early to beat the potential crowd and also to make sure we get our complimentary mug...... we failed on both goals. We did manage to arrive just after 1am, but there was a line just to drive into Bayside Hut, (seems like the WaterClub name didn’t stick), so we know there was going to be nuff people on the inside.

There were two lines of entry, folks with tickets, and folks without tickets who were brave enough to pay the ‘more at the door’ price. So we get to the front of the line and flashed our winning smiles, only to be told we not on the list. “Buh wah the jail is dis?” Luckily the man himself, Rambo came by at the right time and everything got straightened out. Nice. While waiting, we took a quick glance a the guest list... if yuh see names. But that was to be expected with the known faces in the crowd... Isle of Rhum promoters Larson and Colin, Islands United Dave, SocaWeb.com’s CollinMc, Giselle d Wassi One, Gailann, and even Leon Coldero. We were still too late for our mug, and they had some nice big ceramic ones too... not sure how some of those ladies carried those around. Nonetheless, we still got our drink on.... rum and coke on this night, as our favorite Vodka did not make the all inclusive list. Never again with that rum business, not meh and the monarchy, not meh. Unless is 1919 or 10 Cane ;-)

Now the spirits high, and is “mugFestivus for the rest of us!!!” Everyone was in a friendly mood, having ah good time. The line up of DJs was the cream of the South Florida's crop - Black Chiney, Renegade Sound and DJ Dorenzo - what more could you ask for? A live performance? Well that was provided with a last minute addition of Jamaica's Tessanne Chin to the entertainment line up. Yeah man, "Hideaway" is a big tune! Also on the night, the new Papa Keith, now of 99 Jamz graced the stage as part of Renegade Sound. We call him the new Papa Keith not because he is with a new radio station, but because we never before heard him admit out loud in public that he is Trini, many were shocked to find out, right on Keith!

Now from this long review I hope it comes across what a good time was had by all at MUG Fest. Thanks for having us guys. See you all on Sept 22nd for the next one!

Before we run we have another Party Service Announcement (PSA). On the way home, folks, fueled by rum courage were speeding on the I-95 like is dem alone on the road. Honestly, we were tempted to join in the high speed trek back up North but that idea was quickly quelled by some dude in a Civic that fish tailed across the 95 almost hitting the guard wall, and this is just as we hit the 95 off the ramp from Bayside. So we take we time and head home, next thing is red lights up ahead as we get to North Miami just before the Miami Gardens exit, traffic comes to an almost stand still. As we pass the scene of the holdup is too see cars littered all over the 95, smashed, cars up on the side wall, folks laying on the ground...... these are the same people we just say were having ah good time in de party. That was a real buzz kill !!! What really is the sense of driving like an idiot, to get home 10 mins earlier??!! Some of those folks did not make it home that night, but to a hospital instead. Ah sorry to have to end this review on this note, but people, I begging yuh to THINK!
