Pop Quiz! What happens every year in South Florida during the month of August? If you said daily midday thunderstorms you would be correck, but the answer we are looking for is Band Launchings! That's right with South Florida Carnivals (Miami and Broward) right around the corner it's time for all the mas makers and band leaders to present this year's designs to their awaiting public. If you live in South FL, then you know Mascots International coming with a band every year, like Iwer say "band after band after band after band... ", is not so the song go?

Now the folks at Mascots Int'l don't just come and drop a band launch on yuh jus so, they does warm yuh up for in the months preceding with their Mas Camp/House parties every 3rd Saturday. Yep the house is the mas camp and the mas camp is the house, and I swear the house built for throwing parties with a sunken living room that acts as the dance floor, paved backyard pool area it jus right. The place nice and dark, drinks selling by the kitchen, folks liming by the pool and real wining going on inside the house. Super Jigga TC and DJ Delite does keep it jumping from start til finish, and sometimes it could be all 5AM and yuh now leaving the people dem house. Is years now they doing this, the neighbors doh fret, and the cops doh stress, the ting nice for real.

So this year Mascots Intl's band is called Hidden Treasures, but I doh know here anybody hiding any treasure in them skimpy costumes, ladies yuh go like yuhself in either the Green, Purple or Gold section. The headpiece for the Purple section is one that were we in Trini, you would see everyone carrying it in the airport on Ash Wednesday to take it home. The costumes almost make you not notice the sexy models.... almost!! ;-)

BACKGROUND: The concept of the band was taken from the book King Solomon’s Mines, depicting the adventure by the Explorers in search of a missing family member. They forged thru the lush green KuKuAna Forest, then had to reason with the Royal Kraal Warriors and then on to the caves where the Hidden Treasures of Gold and Silver was found......

The depiction is thru Mascots’s eyes.............
