After experiencing another magnificent Booze Cruise, it was time to rub elbows with Lara and guests at his beautiful estate located in the parish of St. Peter. Yes, big shot party! There was some light rainfall earlier, so we're sure guests were very happy to be chauffeur driven from their cars to the gates of the majestic Ebworth Plantation, avoiding the wet grass. As we witnessed last year, the ambiance of the natural landscape alone was absolutely astounding (photo). The grounds was laid out in a similar fashion as well - dining area around the pool (photo), food stations towards to the back of the venue, main stage up front (overlooking main lawn area) and various drink stations conveniently distributed throughout the venue. Numerous patrons did complain of the stage location, especially the ladies wearing their Sunday best who didn't want to chance getting their fancy heels dirty or stuck in the wet lawn while partying. However, this didn't stop the folks that came to fete from fetting! We recommend placing the stage where there's a hard surface (even if one needs to be built) directly in front for partygoers next year. We're sure the artists and bands will be happy too! Patrons were treated to the finest wines and spirits provided by Hanschell Inniss Ltd and there was even a beer pit located in the fountain at the front of the main house serviced by the exotic Carib girls (photo). We love our Carib girls! Besides the standard scotch & coconut water, those raspberry martinis were a huge hit! As far as the food spread went, you had it all.... Seafood, Chinese, Indian, Creole and more! We understand that Sandy Lane Hotel, Daphne's Restaurant, Tamarind Cove Hotel, East Moon Chinese Restaurant and Sitar Indian Restaurant all came together to provide the delightful culinary experience. Also, Barbados Chef of the Year 2005 & 2007, Creig Greenidge, was the guest Chef for the evening. So you know all the food was cooked to perfection! The night's entertainment included two of Barbados top bands; Krosfyah together with Jabae & lead singer Barry Chandler. Guests were also treated to individual performances by Fireball (TnT), Lil Rick, Mr. Dale, Peter Ram, Don Trent, Nard and a couple other Soca stars. Unfortunately, from Lil Rick's performance onwards, acts were cut short due to time constraints, but kudos to the artists for still doing their best to entertain us. Quite a few partygoers commented that they missed their Destra, who destroyed the fete last year (in pouring rain too!). To everyone's satisfaction, the fete went well over a full hour from the carded end time of 1AM. **Sniff Sniff** Is that corn soup we smell? Two for the road please... got to energize for the Kadooment Day jump up tomorrow. Chooks aka Daddy Juice ===================================== |
