So, we reach home from Shine mid-afternoon, caught some zzzz’s, took a lil' lime and headed to Galaxy 2k7 Champs on Fire. Galaxy on Fire, promoted by Legends of T&T, was a new fete in the Trini Jungle Juice line up this year. You know we never afraid to try new tings! And what was the venue you ask? Yes, a roller skating rink!

So, we reach Galaxy Skate Way around midnight and see some limin’ spots taking place outside. People getting geared up for the all night event – yes, fete scheduled from 9pm to 7am. On the inside, the crowd was looking like they were ready to have ah good time. A well mixed good-looking crowd. Yes, we talkin' all ages... we seeing everyone from Tantie Merle to Cousin Jeffrey in de dance. Because of the nature of the venue, the crowd was too spread out to get much of a vybe but once the concert started, everyone moved to the center of the roller rink and the jam started one time.

MC Ian D’ Goose did a good in livening up the crowd, and performances by both upcoming artists and calypso veterans like Denise Plummer really got the crowd going. Denise, girl yuh have real energy! And after all these years in the business too... man, we still trying to keep up! And what a crowd response! Then the big man in the business, Iwer George, gave a stellar performance taking the crowd back in times and all the way forward. Although the crowd didn't fill the entire roller rink, at least for the earlier hours when we were there, those present were having ah ball.

Then when special guest Dane Gulston start to beat that pan... well, you could just feel the crowd moving and feeling his beat. We had to leave to get to another event before the Roy Cape All Stars really started to perform and we didn't even see Leon Coldero & Code 868 arrive yet, but it seems like it was the start of a great evening or should we say, a 'great night turn into morning' since fete scheduled till 7am!
