The Fight & The Main Event

Having had a good time at the April'07 episode of FRIENDS, TJJ was looking forward to the 'Soca de Mayo' episode which promised to be bigger and drunker, and that is we kinda thing self. Now May 5th was a night of many options for those looking to hit the town, and even for those looking to stay indoors. The De La Hoya-Mayweather fight had generated so much prefight hype even if you were not a boxing fan, you wanted to see it, and we wanted to see it. Luckily Socaweb.com sent out an e-mail days before the party letting their patrons know that Kareem’s would be showing the fight on the many wall mounted plasma screens in the back lounge and the one above the front bar. FRIENDS is already free entry before 12 AM, so showing up early for the fight was like icing on the cake, seems quite a few folks were fight fans and/or did not want to pay per view at home as there was limited view space upon our arrival shortly before 11PM. We got in where we could fit in and took in the headline bout. We can’t breakdown the fight here for you, and by now its history that Mayweather was awarded the victory by the judges, we agree. Secretly we had hoped for some kinda bacchanal from Floyd Sr or the Uncle.

So now fight done just after midnight, all the dinner patrons have been escorted off the premises as is time for big people to party now. Lights off, action and C.I.Dee Sound hit them with some Soca from jump. It was still early but the crowd that had formed was mostly females and those with a high sexiness quotient so things were looking good. This time around they made sure to announce that the bar in the lounge was open for the business of aiding and abetting in folks drunkenness as well as food being available. From the line that quickly formed, this was quite welcomed. The steam of folks in the door picked up a bit after 1AM, as those who watched the fight at home or elsewhere made their way to Kareem’s, this time around the crowd was not as thick as April, but there was still a nice sized crowd with lots of new faces. C.I.Dee was keeping the vibes lively and the crowd dancing, one things is very prevalent at this party not a lot of wallbangers, folks really seem to enjoy themselves and bust a move. And then of course there is always the one track that make everyone shout out “oooooohhh” when it brings back memories, this time around one such tune was "Push It" by Salt n Peppa. Folks does just forget and bring back whatever dance move they was doing back then. Miss Maya from Jouvay dot com and crew were late arrivals to the scene but they surely did make up for lost time dancing well after everyone else had gone and the lights were turned on.

Once again Socaweb.com and sixAxis Ent teamed up to bring something nice n new to the ‘mature and sexy’ crowd here in South FL. So for folks looking for something different and new, not just the same party with a different name, FRIENDS is for you.... see you all on June 2nd @ Kareem’s!
