Click on thumbnails to see the big picture/entire gallery So far we have been following the episodes of FRIENDS closely, and after "The Soca de Mayo Episode" we couldnt wait to see Ross, Rachel and Chandler again. But seriously folks, the eVite promised a reloaded and retooled party for the June Summer Jump-Off. Things started off looking not so good for the guys at SocaWeb.com and sixAxis Ent. because Tropical Storm Barry was heading right for South FL, and from the rain ALL day on Friday and with the same predicted for the rest of the weekend, we know they had to be nervous, we were. But they must be blessed because Saturday started off cloudy, even with a few sprinkles, but by evening time it was clear skies and nice weather, so now it was just to arrive at Kareems and take in the festivities. We managed to get there just after midnight and saw that a small crowd had already gathered, a few hold overs from the Blazz Fest across the street. The first promised change we noticed was the addition of Major Links sound crew to the line up for the night. Greg was on the 1s and 2s nice-ing up the dance in the early session, playing everything from Soca to Reggae, even R&B and Hip Hop So SocaWeb delivered on their first promise, then we saw a young lady passing around with a tray of little white cups. In these cups were the advertised Jello Shots, seemed they were more shot than Jell-O... nice! Second promise delivered on. It took a while for the crowd to build on this evening, but by 2AM the place was full with a nice sized crowd and as always quality ladies in the eye candy dept. Just at this time is when FRIENDS' resident DJ C.I.Dee Sound took over the dance, so iz now we waiting to hear which big tunes the Wadester go buss this month, cause is a mus he buss something that have the whole dance singing along. There were a few this rounds, but we think the one that really ketch them was the new Rihanna and Jay Z "Umbrella"..... L ah L ah L ah Aay! Elvis Crespo's Suavemente had a few folks thinking they could Salsa, and we're sure the Latinas in the dance loved it. Anytime yuh leave a SocaWeb party before 4AM you going to miss a nice part of the session. All in all, a good time was had by everyone - even with the broken AC in Kareems, so it really did feel like Summer up in there!! Keep up the good work guys. -- Spudz McKenzie ==================================== |
