Date: Friday 6th July 2007 Location: Zanzibar on the Waterfront. Washington, DC Promotions: Klimaxx Entertainment & East Coast Caribbean Events Click on thumbnails to see the big picture/entire gallery The Juice has much love for 3 Canal (the crown princes of Raga Soca), so we knew we had to reach Fresh Fete Friday at Zanzibar for the "3 Canal In Concert Edition". The drama we went through to get to the venue.... laaaawd, we get lost and ting... long story! Anyway, we not getting into dat right now.
We finally reach Zanzibar at around 1:30 am. By this time, the show had just started and 3 Canal was already singing their 2007 hit "Good Mornin'" (one of our favorite song for de year). So we quickly got our camera gear together and went right into de action. They sang all the hits we love like "Blue", "Rise", "Talk Yuh Talk", "Revolution" .... Aye aye aye! The people were loving 3 Canal's energy, singing along to their tunes. You could tell there were some die hard 3 Canal fans there cos they were singing every song, word for word! The ladies in front of the stage were hype... we luv it!! 3 Canal's performed for over an hour and finished off with a repeat of "Good Mornin'" ..... nice! After the show DJ Sound City took over the set. Now because we came late, we asked people how it was before we got there and we were told that DJ Hazzard and Sound City were playing rel chunes. Now we rel vex because TJJ doh like to miss out on ah good time. But when Sound City came back on the mic this time, they said since they were playing soca all night they wanted to switch it up.... so they played R&B. Sound City, you know TJJ has mad love for ya and we know it was we fault for coming late, but we not trying to hear R&B when there's only 40 precious wining minutes left til' fete done!! It's a good thing they switched it up to Soca quick and we were able to catch a lil' wine.... gotta exercise we waistline! After fete done, nobody was ready to go home. They decided to continue the party outside. Ah man park his truck right in front of de club and was blasting Soca. And dey had ah lady selling corn soup, bake 'n shark too. It was ah real lime and you know we had to stay til' de end. Thanks to Klimaxx and East Coast Caribbean Ent. for the love you guys continue to give TJJ. Tomorrow we catching a flight to NY because dey say Thief Head Crew have a boat ride! Fuel up the TJJ jet! ==================================== |
