Twas the night before the Republic Day Holiday and what better way to celebrate our 31st anniversary as a Republic than to PARTY!!! Pier 2, Chaguaramas was my destination as I headed to T&T's latest premium liming spot... The Ocean Pearl Cruise Ship - a floating hotel and entertainment centre. Flight Cruise Sept'07 was advertised as an evening lime from 4pm till so I figured that around 7pm would be a good time to get there. Parking was no problem and I met up with some old friends and made my way onboard. The situation was shaky to say the least when I arrived since the music was pretty soft and people were casually chatting and enjoying each others company. *Not Another Social Event* thoughts flashed through my mind as I walked out on deck to take in the sea breeze. With the Treasure Queen blasting music not to far of in the distance I wondered if I was on the wrong boat. Alas, I looked around and saw nuff pretty ladies on the starboard side, so I decided to delay my man overboard call. I made a round and snapped up the ladies on deck and while meeting new friends the music volume surged from inside as Umba (Matsimela) sought to get the party started. Things began to warm up and we were taken through our dancing routine from the Hula Hoop to the Frog Back with the real dancers stepping out and putting it down. Whether it was the fact that we weren't actually on land anymore or the blood-alcohol levels on board, the vibes were free and flowing with everyone having a festive time. The 2 for 1 specials on Hennessy and Uncle Johnnie Walker were not passed on and the bartenders were kept on their toes, but it must be said that their service was commendable. The party took place on 2 levels as there were both upstairs and downstairs dancing areas. Upstairs comprised mainly of a few crews who mainly mixed and mingled amongst each other whilst downstairs was densely populated with people just lookin for a good time and a small wine. When the Soca started playing, things actually started getting a bit sticky so I took a timeout to chill on the deck. However, when Patrice Roberts said to "Assume The Position" and Machel announced it was "Wining Season", I was obligated to put the camera away and do a little thing on the dancefloor. Devon Matthews from RED 96.7FM came through with Shotmaster J and took us on a musical ride as everyone on board formed an extended "Congaline" and bumped and wined till the ship almost tipped over. After more Soca we went into some Hip-Hop and I had to show I was really no slouch as I taught a few people how to "Crank That Soulja Boy" (I'll show the Crank That Young Simmo next time... lol). After a long weekend, I decided to take an early night here and disembarked with the dance still in good groove. I'm sure things went till early morning and we thank the Aviator Entertainment Crew for hosting us at the event.
