Happy Easter people!!!
Hope everybody had a blessed Easter weekend with fun and happiness.
Thought I would spend
a quiet Easter Saturday home chilling and relaxing with some music then
last minute plans I decided Danclair and Friends Easter Bunny Party -
must go!!! Looking at the invite to make sure I really wanted to go, I
said yeah ... I will be there ... Easter Bunnies .... yummy ... Finger
food too; I was hungry so I might as well eat up.
Digress City Point
- real gorgeous setting for a party; more of a social gathering point
I would say but easily can be made a party venue with the dance floor.
The bar staff and ground staff were very friendly and it added to the
setting. Carib, Angostura 1919 and Royal Oak rum was on sale, so it brought
back some memories of Trini, but not my kind of drinks..... under mi Guinness!
Arriving minutes after
nine, I was assuming that the party would be crowded by then since the
invite said from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m. Too my demise I was horribly wrong ...
I would not say empty ... I would just say scanty. People were sitting
down, definitely not a good sign. Music provided by Gladiators Sound System
was filling the venue and my Soca deprived ears.... God I love my culture!
I also got to take in the art on display by Trini artist Rich Questel.
He had some interesting portraits including Machel, Bob and Marilyn Monroe.
Posing off by the
dance floor taking in the scenes of Digress, the finger foods keep passing
.... Shrimp, Vegetarian Roti, Jerk Pork, more Shrimp, Spinach & Chicken
Pholourie.... tasty! I left with a full stomach, and of course under mi
Guinness.
As more patrons started
parading in Gladiators began ringing in the dancehall.... "Dutty
Wine", "Hot Wuk", "Willie Bounce" ... all the
famous tunes that we Caribbean people love to dance too. By about midnight,
the crowd was of a good size, space to move about space to change dancing
partners, and for the finger food to pass. There was an ol' school Soca
session that had every single person dancing.... songs from Shadow, Kitchener
and the Mighty Sparrow was soaring through the mouths of dancing patrons.
This year's Soca was
also a hit, especially Road March winner "Jumbie". However,
old tunes from Machel also had the crowd wining out of control.
All in all, a very
simple and short night but always good clean fun. The bunnies in the party
that were sharing out their ears brought some spice to the party and the
finger food servers were off the hook! Big up Danclair for spotting those
two young ladies.
Let's not forget the
drum session at the end of the boogie which was quite memorable. Not to
sure I have ever seen that sort of culture in London but it was an eye
opener. Patrons did stay back to evaluate that situation and there were
a few shooting the Smirnoff vodka ... hahaha ... nevertheless a good night.
Danclair, see you
next rounds son. I will be there.... you had some beautiful people in
your party and nice food!!
